In memory of a dear friend . . .
Jackie Lee Hill   April 28, 1949  -  Sept. 22, 1995
Who's friendship inspired several of these poems.
          You Are There
I loved you deeply no words can express
These feelings of pain and loneness
There is a void left behind an emptiness
You have touched me deeply
To have known you I have been blessed

You may be gone but not forgotten
You will always be here with me
When I see a flower  or feel a gentle breeze
I will feel your hand touch mine
I will feel a sense of peace
Then I' wil know you are here with me
Yhere will be no place for grief

I believe you are in a place of rest
No pain no toils no cares
I know the angels guided you
No burdens now to bear
You are in a place of peace and beauty,
My mind can not comprehend
It is a world of beginnings
A new life with no end

No Good-byes
I am sorry I can not  say good-bye
The pain to much to bear
I know that you would understand
It is not because I do not care
I will miss you in the silence of the night
My thoughts will be of you
When the stars shine oh so bright
When I see a flower kissed with dew
I think of you I can not help but smile
Good memories are all I have
I think of you I am at peace
Love spans across the miles

I  said my good-byes while you were here
That is when I shed my tears
When loneliness begins to overtake
Your joyful voice I hear
Good-byes I know should not be said
It is only a parting for a time
Yhat is why the blood of Jesus was shed
We are all just one step behind
We will all meet again on heaven's shore
We will rejoice and sing a new song
When the final good-bye is said here below We will meet around the throne
            Falling Leaves
I watched as the leaves fell from the trees
They fell to the ground and were blown by the breeze
The snow came and went, then the leaves were gone
They went back to the earth, from where they came from

The tree now stands bare, the branches start to fall
The source of life has been cut off
The tree no longer stands tall
The sun and the warm breeze, will come once again
New life will come forth,as fast as it went

The same with our lives, when our season has end
We will return to the earth, from where life begin
We will raise a new body, but different from the tree
When the Son comes again
From the seasons we will be set free
        I Took A Trip
Do not weep for me for I am not gone
Do not sing me no sad songs
It is only a trip I took before you
I am just on my journey home
Do not worry my friend
I will see you again
When your work on earth is through
I will wait for you just outside the gate
And together we will walk through

It is time for me to rest for a while
This body now feels no more pain
I am at rest with the saints of old
Together we will rise again
Continue the work you are called to do
Spread joy and love where you can
Make plans for the trip,
We all must take
To that beautiful promised land

There is a trip we all must take
When our work on earth is through
We will all meet again on heaven's shore
Where the sky is always blue
There we will not cry
Nor feel no more pain
No parting there will be up there
We will live there on heaven's shore
No more worries no more cares

             Dearest Friend
He's a flower that bloomed here below
he made the journey on life's road
life was cut short
petals withered and died
now he lives forever on the other side
I know he'd say don't weep for me
that flesh I left behind
no longer hinders me
that body racked with pain
I no longer need
my spirit now can soar I've been set free
He'd say live like today is your last
don't dwell or live in the past
it's already gone
nothing can bring it back
live today, love today, and touch a life along the way
             End of Life's Road
When we've come to the end of Life's road
no friend or family can go along
but there'll be someone to guide
across Jordan deep and wide
you'll be led safe to the other side

There's an appointment we all must keep
when our work on earth is complete
we can't cancel or change the date
neither money nor fame can close that gate

We must all make plans to make that move
with plans transition will be smooth
no worry nor fear or dread
though this flesh may fight
for that last breath
There's a new life waiting just ahe

  Time Eases the Pain
It’s been four months now
since you went away
time has begin to ease the pain
but your memory doesn’t fade
through the good and the bad
you are still here with me
your face I can still picture
your smile I see

I don’t think of you as often
as I did before
but in my heart you’re with me
death can’t close that door
the memories I cherish
that’s all that I have left
but I’ll never fail to remember
to know you I’ve been blessed

They say that time eases pain
I guess that they were right
and with time memories fade
but yours still shines bright
I would not want it no other way
your memory I want to hold
to me the times that we shared
could not be bought with gold
   Victory’s At the End
Sometimes I sit and ponder
what life is all about
I know I shouldn’t question
and I know I shouldn’t doubt
I know there is a purpose
in each trial that I face
just help me God to run
and finish this race with your grace

There were many at the start line
I’ve saw them drop out one by one
they became so tired and weary
they quit before the race was won
they just couldn’t face tomorrow
they just seemed to lose their way
they became so down hearted
they couldn’t run another day

I urge you to keep running
the finish line is just ahead
look past all the obstacles
don’t look at them with dread
just face them with assurance
that you have already won
they will seem to vanish
from the path that you run
                        Something Missing
There’s an emptiness on holidays, when one you loves not there
you all can’t help but notice, there’s one vacant chair
it stands alone in the corner, the story it tells
there’s one soul that’s missing, that’s the emptiness you felt

We try and go on like before, but it will never be the same
the family chains been broken, there’s now one less name
there’s hope we’ll be together again up there on heaven's shore
we’ll rest from all our toils and cares we’ll separate no more

Even though we just can’t understand, why life must be this way
why we have to say good-bye,there’s just no easy way
we know deaths not the end,it’s still hard to let go
we’re left with an emptiness, while left here below
