THE PRESIDENT'S INFLUENCE OF THE LEGISLATION

The President influences the legislation of this country in many ways.  He delivers the "State of the Union" address every year.  It lets the legislation know where he plans on taking the country in the coming year.  He also sends out a budget shortly after delivering this speech.  Congress isn't required to accept this budget, but most of the time it is.  The President can also call special sessions of Congress to consider urgent matters, however this rarely happens anymore because Congress meets most days of the year.
