This page, made by four Broughton
High School students, is intended to
explain two roles of our President,
Party Leader and Chief of State.
Party Leader:-appoints party members to government jobs tthrough
- When a political party's candidate is elected President he then becomes the leader of the party
- The President tries to help his party by:
patronage
-making speeches and personal appearances inn support of
party members who are running for election
Chief of State:
- The president is a better symbol for America than Congress because the president is an individual with familiar ways of speaking and acting. Therefore, he/she represents all fifty states, unlike Congress.
- The president's role of Chief of State is mostly symbolic because he is a role model for the american nation, and he represents the United States in international affairs.
- The role of chief of state can be blurred with other roles by meeting with other leaders. He can be casual but when business comes up, he takes the role of the president again
