The New York Times studies show that minorities (blacks)
who kill whites are more likely to be sentenced to death than whites who
murder blacks.(1)
-
For every 14 blacks executed for killing a white person only
1 white is executed for killing a black person according to studies.(1)
-
According to studies conducted by the Charlotte Observer,
it found out the minorities are 3 more times likely to get penalty for
killing a white person.(2)
-
Other finding show that jurors, defense attorneys, investigators,
and prosecutors use aggressive languages towards minorities.(2)
-
Minorities (blacks) make up only 13% of the U.S. population,
but comprise 40% of death-row inmates.(3)
-
The poor and the middle class, which are more likely to be
minorities, must depend on court appointed lawyers or a public defenders
who are inexperienced and poorly paid. This factor play a part in the fate
of the defendant.(4)
-
Studies also show that 84% of death row inmates have been
convicted of killing a white person even though minorities (blacks) and
whites are victims of murder in equal numbers.(4)
