From the evidence we have researched, the bottom line
is that the death penalty discriminates
against the poor - middle class people because they
can not afford a good lawyer that can defend them. There's always going
to be problems with the death penalty because no one is perfect, so mistakes
are going to be made when human beings are involved. There is no evidence
that proves that the death penalty deters crimes. In the end it costs the
tax payers more money than life imprisonment and appeals fees. Many people
approve of the death penalty because they feel murders "deserve to die".
Every one is born with certain rights including the right to life. This
rights are guaranteed not rewards for good behaviors, which means it can
not be taken away for bad behavior. No one deserves to die! As Gandhi says
"an eye for an eye would have the whole world blind". So if the death penalty
can not be administered to each people equally, then it shouldn't be used
as a form of punishment.
