"Justice will only be achieved when those who are not
injured by crime
feel as indignant as those who are."
No moratorium of the death penalty is needed. For many crimes that are committed, a life sentence is not punishment enough for the harm and suffering the family of the victims have been caused. Economically, the death penalty relieves the government of having to produce funds for the criminals, therefore relieving us as the people because the funds are coming from our tax money.
Although the death penalty should be
kept in use, there are many different methods that are inhumane. Such methods
are the gas chamber, electrocution, the firing squad, the guillotine, hanging,
and beheading. Some of the listed above are not in use regularly but they
have been used as back-up. These methods should be done away with because
they cause the inmate much pain. Lethal injection is the easiest way because
the inmate is put to sleep before hand and then they are given an injection
of a poison. So basically, they just fall asleep and that is the end. With
the other ways, there is too much risk that something will go wrong and
the inmate will suffer much more than he has to.

From the christian point of view, there are many quotes from the Bible which refer to capital punishment.
"Eye for Eye, tooth for tooth."
(New American Bible, Leviticus 24:20)
"Whoever takes the life of any human being shall be put to death."
(New American Bible, Leviticus 24:17).
Death penalty was mentioned in the Code of Hammurabi,
which was written in the time of Constantine. The death penalty was used
for every offense in the Draconian Code of Greece and was imposed upon
criminals in Biblical times. The death penalty has lasted the test
of time.

Lastly, many anti-death penalty supporters
claim that capital punishment is racist. There are statistics that they
have found that point out that the death penalty is racist. But there is
also proof that it is not. It completely depends on what side of the fence
you are on because anyone can find information to defend or accuse capital
punishment.
