Her name is CH Forever Spring but we lovingly called her Nahari. Nahari was a 15 hand beautiful broze chestnut with a red mane and tail. She had 3 white stockings and a beautiful blaze down the whole length of her face. Then there was a freckle in the middle of her blaze on her forehead.
We did not own her as a baby and did not know much of her life prior to us but I do believe she was probably a beautiful little foal. A friend and I were answering an add. We were looking for trail and school horses. When we got to the farm, way in the back of this group of horses was this skinny nearly starved to death mare. She was standing off away from the rest waiting for her chance at the food. She was so afraid she would not push her way in.
Well, I had to get her home and care for her. The owner said she did not know what was wrong with her and said she had the vet out and he contributed her condition to a selineum deficiency. She said she just didn't know what to do with her. Well, I knew the horse would not make it thru the coming winter. So, I made her an offer and she gladly took it. We brought her home and with the help of a friend that was very experienced in bring horses back in to condition and she regained her health. It took months to get enough weight on her so I could start working her. Well, we fianlly did and I started working her and riding her that spring. She turned out to be one of the sweetest horses I've ever owned. We had 10 years together and she gave me 3 beautiful foals. I still have 2 of her daughters and they are as sweet and good natured as their dam ever was.
Nahari was a *Bask granddaughter and like *Bask++ was very beautiful. I did not know anything of her bloodlines until I started researching. I hold her close in my heart everyday and will never forget the things she taught me as a handler. I always will wonder which of us recieved the gift. I think we both did. |
