To be alive without realization, divided by mountains and seas

To be old without introspection, ten thousand mistakes and wrongs

Day after day waste away

Birth and sickness cannot be defeated

Day after day waste away

Old age and death cannot be surmounted

Without virtuous deeds, no easing of sinful doings

Life and death without attaining realization

Without upholding promises, no charity and love

Earthly existence becomes very bitter
