LIFE AFTER BHI
After high school I went to the Long Island College of Pharmacy and majored in pharmacy. I've been working for a private pharmacy for almost 6 years now and the positive experiences I've had there encouraged me to choose this major. I enjoyed my classes in college and learned a lot about myself and my capabilities.  But my first semester didn't go as I had planned. In high school I was never good at natural sciences and the trend continued into my college career. After failing Biology and dropping out of Chemistry, I decided that it was time for a change. I worked very hard, took 2 summer semesters, and really devoted myself to my studies. My social life was almost non-existent, but my hard work paid off. I got straight A's in all my classes and was able to successfully continue on the path I had chosen for myself.

CAREER ASPIRATIONS

I am now in my last year of pharmacy school. I will be graduating in May 2006 with a Doctorate in Pharmacy. Pharmacy is a great profession that is always in demand and very well paid. A degree in pharmacy opens up access to many fields - you don't necessarily have to become the person you see in retail pharmacy.  It is a field that is constantly changing; it provides a lot of opportunity with immense room for growth and professional excellence.

As a side note, I want everyone to know that the profession does not consist merely of counting pills as some may think.  The person you see behind the counter is very knowledgeable and sometimes even knows more than your doctor.  So if you have questions, just ASK, develop a relationship with your pharmacist - you'll find her to be of great help. If anyone wants to know more about this school or about a career in Pharmacy, please feel free to email me at lyubov.surman@brooklyn.liu.edu.

BHI MEMORIES

The class of 2000, as some of you might remember, was incredible - from our singing and unity, to our arguments and laughter - we had a great time in school. I look back at those years and remember how much fun we had.  I also realize how important those years were in shaping the person I am today. The atmosphere in Be'er Hagolah, the spirituality, the mode of thought and behavior, have all been essential to my development and still continue to be a part of my daily life.

I hope everyone from my class, the students and the teachers, are doing well. I fondly remember each and every one of you. Thank you for the great memories.
