| As we travel life's road, we sometimes encounter detours and other times we have to make a permanent change of direction. This has been the experience of Mike and Amanda Hiott, the owners of BHL Management. Mike has a B.S. degree in Computer Science and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree. Mike was employed by one of Charlotte's major employers for over 18 years when he was informed his job was being cut, a definite life-changing experience. Amanda has a B.A. degree in Psychology and a Masters of Education in Counseling. Since March of 2000, Mike has served on the Board of Directors for his own homeowner's association and has first-hand experience in the effort it takes to work with and for a community. Mike has served as President for two years and as Treasurer for one year. In 2001, the Board made a decision to terminate the contract with a management company in order to self-manage the association in 2002. With his computer experience, Mike developed his own management system which was used to maintain all the important information for the association. Just as in a lot of volunteer Boards, a majority of the work tends to fall on one or two directors and Mike was that person. The Board decided to pay Mike in 2003 to manage the association. We were in the process of setting up our business in late 2002 when the layoff came. We realized that we are very competent in this line of work and decided to pursue opportunities to manage other associations. As you compare our company to other management companies you will find we are very reasonably priced. We want our clients to feel they are receiving high value for the management fees they pay. You will notice in any proposal we send you that we do not charge any extra labor for preparing late notices. We believe late fees are for the association to offset the cost of trying to receive assessments. Our goal is to provide the best services for our clients in such a way that they will never have a desire to look for another management company. Oh yes, you may be wondering what the letters BHL in our name mean. For us, BHL is a reminder of our faith in God and how He is bringing us through our trials in life. There is a song we have sung in church for many years written by Bill and Gloria Gaither that says: "Because He Lives, I can face tomorrow Because He Lives, all fear is gone Because I know He holds the future And life is worth the living just Because He Lives!"
