Every year it seems as though the Christmas feeling doesn't quite hit me until a few days before Christmas. I
think its mostly because I'm too busy running around doing things to sit and take it all in. In years
past I was occupied with finals. This year it was my grad apps. Of course there's also the last minute
shopping.
I realized last night that I haven't heard very much Christmas music to help me get into the mood this
year. I suppose its because I'm so used to having my mom play the Christmas music all the time. She
would always play songs by the Kingston Trio and the Carpenters. Ahh, the Carpenters. I love them. I don't
know why, but ever since I was little I always liked singing along with their songs, Christmas or otherwise.
Last night I logged onto Napster and downloaded a bunch of the Carpenters' songs and all day I've been
listening to the Christmas ones like "Merry Christmas Darling" and "I'll be home fore Christmas." They
have brought back so many memories and feelings. I miss home a lot more now, but I also have a lot more
Christmas spirit now. Its always nice to be reminded of happy memories associated with these songs. =)
So this is my first Christmas away from home [I promise this is the last time I talk about it] and I leave
for LA tomorrow with the good roommate and her friend. It'll be my first roadtrip down south too. hehe.
Funfun. I'm anxiously awaiting the sight of the good roommate's house and the taste of her mom's cooking.
Oh! and the heated tiles!...we mustn't forget about those. hehe. I can't wait!
I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas. Open tons of presents and enjoy the company of the
people you're with. Kiss your family members for me. I will be back Christmas night. Until then...
