Things went ok till about 12:45.
The day started off with the older groups rotating among us leaders to test them for Hershey's Track and Field. It was all
good and I worked the softball station with Kekoa. I'm
surprised how far some of those little ones can throw. We finished a bit early so me and Kekoa split our kids into 2 groups
and did an over under race with them promising the winners could get their lunches first.
Lunch was pretty good too. My kids are so cute when they're not playing with the beans to burn people. I had fun playing
with Katie and Jennifer in the gym. They said I smelled like Katie's neighbor. haha. Well, Kekoa smells like the neighbor's
room. lol
It was after lunch that the trouble began. The afternoon activity I had planned was "Say What Karaoke." I find it funny
that I actually thought the 45 minutes I alotted for them to practice was too long. They needed a full 24 hours...at least.
One of the groups had Bye Bye Bye and did really well. Another group had Mandy Moore's Candy and they were okay, but didn't
know very many moves to do. The last group gave me so much stress and grief. Never again will I put a whole bunch of the
boys together. They fought and argued and refused to participate and all that fun stuff. There's one boy, Douglas, who I
swear will make my life a living hell for the rest of the summer. I know he means well sometimes, but he doesn't get along with
the other guys too well. I think his personality is too over-bearing and he gets upset if he doesn't get his way. First they
had Blue by Eiffel 65 then it was too hard so I had to let them switch to Oops I did it again. Oh, and there was only one girl
in the group. I felt so bad for her. Next time I will split them all up. I had originally planned to give ice pops to the
winner group but it was so obvious who won that I took pity on everyone else, especially the group with the most fighting. Maybe
I should've stuck to my word and let those guys suffer, but I just couldn't do it. This activity was just too hard for them
and I should reward them for at least trying. Next time I will do more structured activities. lol
Sometimes the days go by so fast that I look back and can only see a blur. I feel like I want to do so much with my kids,
and I want to give them the best experience possible but it all goes by so fast that it seems impossible. Of course, when I'm
actually conducting activities the time seems to pass so slowly that I sometimes get caught scrambling for activities to fill
in the gaps. Aish, I can't win.
So yes, today was an okay day, but by the end I felt it was the most trying day I've had in a long long time. *sigh* I
hope tomorrow goes better. Its the first day of rotation and I have groups 1 & 2...the youngins. We're gonna make this Millenium
bug...Its really a worm made with pipecleaner and tribeads and stuff. Its really cute. The only thing is that I haven't
gotten the supplies yet cuz Ms. Gail hadn't gotten them by the
time I left work today. ACK! I can't even prep so I'll probably have to go in early tomorrow. Yikes. Fun stuff I tell you.
Hrmm, and I gotta think of back up plans in case they finish the worm early. =) Ok, enough talk about work.
Today I was playing around with my mp3s and I made another playlist with all of them. I found out I have about 806 mp3s,
not including the 10-15 I downloaded or was given today. =) Still want ftp access? Just email
me. =) Wow, Min just sent me the Chinese version of
Aqua's Dr. Jones. It sounds funny but its hella cool. Chinese music is so different sounding. Maybe I should take Chinese
next. heehee
Dood, its so friggin hot these days. I'm not looking forward to taking my kids outside in the afternoon tomorrow. But
then again its not as hot as it is in the bay area right now. I feel so bad for people suffering in triple digits and all. I
wonder how I'll handle it. Its just such a weird concept. I don't think the temp has ever gone above 95 here. But then again
I always hear how mainland heat is a lot different and more bearable than the heat in Hawaii. People say its a drier heat up
there, whereas the heat here is icky, sticky, humid, and overall just yucky. Do you people agree? Is the heatwave that Cali
is experiencing now a dry heat or is it muggy too? Gosh, that would really suck. And while we're on the subject of weather,
how weird is it that the high can reach 95 while the low is 57?!?! This is just too fucking weird for me. If its summer and
a high of 95, then logically the low should be somewhere around the mid 70s. Then again, this is the Hawaiian logic that I've
built for myself. You gotta love living in a place surrounded by water. It makes the temperatures a lot more normal. haha. It
makes me wonder if I'll die in the heat after I move. Only time will tell.
Ok, well, my legs hurt so I think I'll go now. What kind of bearing does sore legs have on this journal? None really but I
just thought I'd use it as an excuse to end it here. Oh, and one last thing before I go. My mom has taken her healthy
"anti-saturated fat" campaign to a whole new level. She bought Chinese food for dinner tonight. Yay, right? Wrong. The ho
didn't buy any noodles. AAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKK!!!!!! That in itself is reason to go into a deep depression, but I
restrained myself. I was greatly saddened and extremely disappointed. BOOHAR! What is chinese food without noodles?!?!?!?!?
Aside from noodles being my favorite food, every Chinese take out dinner should have at least ONE noodle dish. Don't you agree?
I swear I should kick her. She even had the audacity to yell at me for buying a whole lot of candy that has saturated fat in it.
When I retorted that it was for my kids and not me she scolded me that I shouldn't be giving them such bad, unhealthy stuff. I'm
just like "What the hell?!" What's the fun of being a kid if you have to worry about saturated fat and can't eat candy? Sheesh.
You think they'd like receiving fruit as rewards instead? haha. I'd probably have a mutiny on my hands if i did that. lol. So
yes, I must find a way to convince my mom that chowmein noodles are ok. Are they made with palm oil? What about chowfun noodles?
If you know, please email me. My sanity depends on it. heh.
Ohbeekaybee, have a nice Friday. Its Aloha Friday!! yayayay. Buhbye!
<3 always,
mars
