You know...its really easy to let days go by between entries if you're not careful. heh. Plus things can happen that just
throw you into a funk and you don't feel like doing shit... I better not let that happen too much then eh? ;P [warning: long entry ahead]
Thursday was my worst day BY FAR for summerfun. I had the entire gym for my group and it seemed cool. I mean, how many
times is THAT going to happen? But NOOOOOOOOO. You would think a group of 20 kids would be easy to handle considering that
it could be worse with 25..luckily 5 were at camp. The thing is, I think my best kids went to camp cuz come Thursday I had
the wildest, most obnoxious bunch of fourth graders alive. It took 15 minutes...AT LEAST...just to split them into teams then
came even more hassle with trying to get them to listen to me explain the game. Once the kids got the gist of the game, we
"attempted" to play but Douglas and Sean were giving me shit and were just making trouble for their team. The other team was
more organized at least and beat the pants off the other team. I had to stop the game before the score got out of control though
and then no one would want to rearrange teams so off to the next game.
I rearranged teams for that game, jan ken po relay. Unfortunately, Douglas and Sean decided they'd try to beef it out right
then and there. I ended up with a pair of crying tough boys and neither would play the game so I just let them sit there. Then
things seemed to get a little better, as the game turned out fun for the kids, so I let it run for about 45-50 minutes. har.
And Sean and Douglas even participated too! Some kids were making trouble though. Errr. We had like 15 minutes till lunch
so we just sat in homeroom and then we ate lunch a bit early. ;P We made popsicle stick picture frames decorated with
puzzle pieces in the afternoon. Fricken Andrew thought he'd be artistic and dumped a bunch of sticks and puzzles in the tub of
glue. He later threw it out. They just love wasting. >.<
Friday, Shane, one of my jr leaders, returned. He had been out the week due to a positive TB test last week. erk. I
informed him of the previous day's chaos and told him to show no mercy on them today. (Shane is really big!) Luckily, it
was a rotation day so I only had to deal with my group in the afternoon and got the kindergardeners in the morning. And also,
I managed to find the skinny skinny pipe cleaners for my millenium bug project so it was relatively easy for the little tykes
to do. They even finished early so I let them make two. YAY. At lunch Shane came back to let me know that my lovely group of
fourth grade devils gave Erin
the hardest time and that the whole group had time out for 5 minutes at recess. Heh. Is it
wrong to get happy when you hear news like that? lol. jk. I wasn't THAT happy. Only Dawn, Dean, and Geordan behaved according
to Erin so they escaped punishment. Even the girls got in trouble since Monty ruined it for them all. After lunch I made
them sit facing the wall for 10 minutes. Extreme? I think not. Even then half of them were fooling around. Some kids just
don't mind these "weak" punishments anymore. What am I to do? =( I told them that if they don't want to be remembered as the
group that causes the most trouble they had better shape up. Plus I threatened another, longer time out during lunch. We'll
see how that goes.
(My mom is yelling at my halmunee now for money and saying she gave my aunt them more money before. I hate when she does that.
frick. What if she can't afford it now?! can i kick my mom? Please? =()
Anyway...backtracking...on Thursday me, Jaye,
Grant, Kekoa,
and Russell went to play mini golf with the teen program.
It was sooper fun. I even managed to make a few holes in one. YAY! In the end though, I only came in second after Russell.
It was really funny though to play with all of them. ^_^ It was even funnier how Tricia said "I got a 48, just like last time."
Ok, so you probably don't understand why that's so funny...let me just tell the story...
Tricia is this 29 year old "girl" who has worked at our summer fun for so fucking long that she was there before Russell I
think (not sure though..but almost at least). Every fucking year she comes back to work, not as a summer aide in a paid
position but as a jr leader as a volunteer. ACK! And every year she some how manages to find some summer aide to have a
crush on. I think the order of it was Russell, Kyle (when i was a jr leader ;P), Grant, Tyler, and now Russell again. LOL!!!
Its so traumatizing though. The only reason why she moved on to Tyler was cuz Grant started going out with
Gloria. Tyler has a gf too so I think that's why she moved
back to Russell. Its like the Salt Lake SummerFun curse. haha. I know I shouldn't laugh, but dood, when it came time to
choose jr leaders last month no one wanted her so we stuck her with
Angie, who was ever so gracious to accept her on everyone's behalf.
Tricia always works with the really little kids so just imagining her getting run over by 4th graders is hilarious. lol. So
anyway, the reason why I think its so hilarious that she said she got a 48 like last time was because the last time we all went
was TWO freaking years ago!! Like HELLOOOO??!!? Who the hell remembers their score from 2 years ago? I can barely remember
2 weeks ago let alone 2 years. lol. We were all rolling. So yeah...anyway, golf was fun and hopefully I'll get those pics
developed soon along with my other roll. Gosh, I'm just getting backed up now. ;P
Ok, so back to Friday. After lunch Kekoa, Erin, and I all joined groups and played Mortal Kombat. Mortal Kombat is where
you have 2 teams in the gym, lined up on opposite sides of the gym. Behind them lie their tennis ball containers all nicely
lined up. On the half court line lie a bunch of rubber, inflatable balls. The object of the game is to knock over the
opposing team's tennis ball cans with the ball (no passing a certain line while throwing though) and also trying to defend your
own side. You play the Mortal Kombat theme...the kids can't charge for the balls until the song says "MORTAL KOMBAT!!" and
the rest is just fun, exciting chaos. =) It was a nice hour and I wish I could have more of those.
I only had one problem with the game. Try explaining it to a 4th grader who barely understands English. One of my kids,
Alvin, has a heavy thick Filipino accent and the rest of my kids tell me he doesn't understand English very well. That sorta
explains why he never wants to play the games that I plan. I mean, I'm trying to explain it slowly, but fast enough where the
rest of my class doesn't get bored and start causing trouble. *sigh* At lunch he doesn't even eat with us and one day
one of my other kids said that Alvin said he didn't like summer fun. =*( I tried sitting him down to explain Mortal Kombat
but he didn't get it. I just let him watch the first game and told him he could go in the next game. When he saw the other kids
playing his face lit up and he was so excited to go play the next game. It was the best moment of the day. =)
...Well, that and the fact that I beat Shane and Ada at
pool. Hahah. We went to Hawaiian Brians and it was soo fun. At first it was just me, Jaye, and Grant playing since
Kekoa and Tara and Tanya (they're sisters who are jr leaders in our summerfun ;P) didn't want to play. I lost and Grant won
but its all good. =P Then Shane was just playing 9 ball when I came around and I joined him. He taught me how to play since
I didn't know how and I ended up winning. That was hilarious. I had to gloat. ;P Then later I played Ada and she lost only cuz
she called the wrong hole for the 8 ball in the end, but to me that's not really losing. har..who am I to complain though. ;P
She wanted a rematch so we played again but the same thing happened. Then we played again and finally I got the 8 ball in and
I *really* won. YAY! Ada won once though when I somehow shot the 8 ball in without realizing it (I really needed to pee so
I couldn't concentrate. lol). One sad thing was that the cute guy from Aiea didn't come though. =( Maybe I'll get to see him
at the teen dance? I hope I hope. ;P
I came home smelling like smoke, but its all good cuz for some reason I really like smelling that way sometimes. I think its
because it makes me feel as if I've been out and have been socializing. I don't do that enough. ;P
On a side note, I think ever since I dropped I've become a whole lot more sociable and approachable. =) Its a good thing
I think.
Hrmm, I think it was Thursday or Friday when I was listening to Mandy Moore's song "I wanna be with you" and realized that
I was feeling exactly what the words were saying at the moment.
I wanna be with you
If only for a night
To be the one whose in your arms
Who holds you tight
I wanna be with you
There's nothing more to say
There's nothing else I want more than to feel this way
I wanna be with you.
But now I'm not quite feeling it as much as I was then so I think I'll just move on. ;P
Friday night I didn't do anything since I was pooped plus I had my MSAT test the next day (today ;P). I printed up the
MSAT practice test questions and looked them over. Dood, some of the questions were a bit tough but not as bad as the GRE ones.
Then I looked at the second section. ACK! I didn't realize it was essay before!! It turns out that that section was 18 short
essay questions in 3 hours. And dood, you don't even understand. All the questions for both sections cover language/lit, math,
visual/performing arts, PE, human development, history/social studies, and science. Shit. I don't remember jack shit from human
developmet that I took 4 years ago and the specifics of American history are just a blur to me.
Anyway, I studied a bit and then slept early. 10:30!! Then I woke up early. 6:00 am!! I went to UH, where
my test was, and sat outside. There were a lot of people there. I was surprised cuz I didn't think that many people would
be taking this test seeing as how only Cali basically requires it. It turns out they were redirecting everyone to their respective tests and A101 was just
the meeting point. So I went to D101 and found that it was only me and this other girl taking the test. The test administrator
was really nice though. =)
I finished the first section (Content Knowledge - 2 hours, 120 questions) with about 40 minutes to spare. Dudidu. I went
to use the bathroom, I walked around the BusAd buildings, played with the phone a bit then went back in to wait the rest of the time.
Har. I was BORED!! Then the other girl left since she wasn't taking part 2 (Content Area Exercises - 3 hours, 18 short essay).
Since I was the only one there the lady let me
start a bit early so I was filling out all my info and shit. Fuck! That was the most fucking thick answer sheet I've ever had
in all my years of standardized testing. In fact, put together all the answer sheets I've ever done and you probably still wouldn't get
to that thickness. Maybe that's why its the most expensive Praxis test. >.< Plus I had to write me SSN on EVERY page! haha. Right as I was about to start another girl came in and I
had to just sit there as the lady re-read all the instructions. Oh well, it was a good time to rest and relax. ;P In the end,
the test was freaking hard. Not so much because of the content but because after writing 17 short essays, the last thing you want
to do is write the 18th one. Some questions were a bit hard too, like one of the poems I didn't quite understand and the
genotype/phenotype thingie. Actually, what is a phenotype? I could answer that pea plant question ok, I just didn't use the word
phenotype. haha. Oh, and my history was a bit shaky. I mean, what are 2 ways states tried to avoid complying with the 15th ammendment
(it gives the right to all citizens to vote regardless of race, etc) which was ratified in 1870? I totally had to bs. I was
thinking how they didn't allow Asian immigrants become citizens for a while. I just forgot when they stopped doing that. 1965? Or maybe it
was 1924? ack!! All these dates screwing up my head!! Then I just bs-ed with the segregation in the south bit. Oh God I hope that
doesn't give me a 1. Each question is graded 0-3, 0 being total idiot and not knowing anything (ie, answering totally off topic)
and 3 being a genius and knowing all the appropriate information to answer the question. Or something like that. lol. I'm hoping
for 2's straight through at least, but I think that may be pushing it. If I don't get 3's on the 3 math questions there will be
hell to pay. ;P I finished with about 10 minutes to spare. My hand was all cramped at this point but I left for home feeling
a weight had been lifted. I like that feeling. =)
I came home to a house with no food. Whenever I come home from being cooped up at school or something I am, more often than
not, very cranky and just wanting to eat. I yelled at my mom for making me suffer just because she has to be on this fucking
diet. I mean, she never eats ramen anyway so why can't she buy me some? There is almost nothing in our refridgerator these days.
Its tragic. Its so depressing. The last 3 days at summerfun I've only been bringing cans of chef boyardee since there has
been nothing to eat and the leftovers from dinner have been disgusting. blech. I told her that soon I'll have eaten all the
chef boyardee too and then she won't buy any of that either since that has saturated fat too. dammit all to hell. I told her
that buying stuff with little fat will only cause me to eat in greater quantities since fat satisfies you longer. Don't you agree?
But nope. I was forced to eat ramen for lunch yet again. I'm gonna get sick of ramen even before I'm out living on my own!!
This time though I put in two eggs. You can't go wrong with egg. Egg is like the BESTEST food in the whole world. So now I'm happy
for the time being. =) Yay for fat. Oh, and my mom just found out chow mein noodles aren't made with palm oil. Its just a tad
bit too late for me lady. ERRRRR!!
I had made a vow to start jogging once my test was over but now I'm just full and tired. I'm getting kinda fat though...like
in my stomach area. Its easily hidden so people probably haven't noticed, but I have. Boohar. I really need to start jogging
again though. Then when I move I won't have money to eat either so I'll lose more weight there. haha. Maybe I should stop eating
these SaeOoGgang chip thingies now. yummy. I smell like shrimp now. hehe.
Okay. Now that I have sufficiently bored you to death I'll go now. At least you're caught up to date with my life now, although I don't know why you would want to be...freak!
hee hee. ;P Gosh I wish I could go to Oceans tonight. Its finally 21 and over on a Saturday!! Its Sam da Man's bday that's why. ;P
Anyone wanna go? please?!?!?!?! ;P
Well, I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Talk to yall later!
<3 always,
maria
