Toured the battlefield in Spring, 2004. 12 stops, some with paths to walk. Great vistas and good views of the battelfield.
- Battle of Shiloh, The - Larry Daniel, Eastern National 1998
April 6-7, 1862. The Confederate army concentrates its forces in Corinth, MS. in order to stop the Union forces from advancing through Tennessee into Mississippi and northern Alabama. The subsequent 2-day battle of Shiloh fails to stem the tide. Stayed in Corinth then toured the battlefield in Spring, 2004. Highly recommended.

Spring-Summer, 1863. The 47-day seige of Vicksburg, MS. and the surrounding battles. Toured the battlefield in Spring, 2004. This National Park has the largest monuments on any battlefield. Includes a National Cemetery and the USS Cairo museum. Highly recommended.

On July 29, 1967, as the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal lay at Yankee Station off the coast of Vietnam preparing for a strike against enemy targets, an accident occurred that engulfed the aft part of the ship in a fierce fire and thick smoke, killing 134 crewmen. This incident forced several changes in Navy firefighting procedures.
