Membership Issues
What is this group? This is an e-group at yahoo. Most of the members know each other through the group mails/posts only.
When was the group started? This group was started in Dec, 2001
Who can become a member of this group? Anyone who abides by the 'unwritten guidelines' of the group can become a member.
What should i do before becoming a member? Other than sending an email you don't need to do anything else. However, it is always advisable to go through the web pages in this website and understand what this group is all about. By clicking on the Join button it is deemed that you agree to abide by the vision & mission of this e-group.
How can i become a member? To become a member , click on Join and set up the required details in the group home page. Or click on http://groups.yahoo.com/Bihari/join or send an email to biharigroup@yahoo.com with your details.
I'm a new member, What should i do? Welcome Abroad! Now that you are a new member,you should introduce yourself to the eGroup. General Policies/Guidelines: Does this group have a Vision/Mission? Yes, the group has a Vision & Mission statement. The Vision & Mission statements have been formulated in consultation with the members in the initial stages of formation of this group. Does this group have any political affliations? No, the group tries to be apolitical and is essentially issue driven. The members endeavour to discuss issues beyond partisan politics. Is this group attached with any other organization or group? No, currently the group is not attached with any other organization. However , members do share their experiences that they have had with their individual groups/organizations. How does the group deal with caste/religion issues and personalised attacks? We do not tolerate any behaviour that is casteist, religious in nature. Also we do not support any personal attack on any member. We value an individual's belief & dignity and expect members to avoid discussions/references that are derogatory/inflammatory in nature.. Any misconduct is dealt with seriously and may also results in termination of membership. Are the messages/emails edited/moderated? Yes and No.. Initially, for new members the messages are moderated. This is done to keep a check on unwarranted posts/spams. Once a member's credentials are established, the member's messages are posted in the group without any intervention of the moderators. Messages are already in the message archive. Why this website? It is true that all messages are stored in the message archive. And the contents of this website is essentially taken from the message archive at yahoo. This web site simply aims to organize the messages and puts them in a more presentable & readable format. Also this serves as a guideline for new/ potential members. They need not feel lost and bewildered at the discussions going around in the group at the time of their joining. We try to give them a fair chance in firing the shots in the discussions !
