A little bit about me
My name is William F. Frazier, but my friends call me "Bill". I have been an Amateur Radio Operator for over 25 years. Starting as a novice (WN7RWU) in 1972 and working up to a tech class license (WA7RWU). I let my license expire and 3 years ago took the test over an was issued my present call of KC7REK. I am a no-code tech at this time and working to get my code speed up so I can improve my license.
I am the co-chair of Disaster Communications for the Rogue Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross and thier amateur station KC7SKR.
I am an active member in ARES and my state RACES. I am a member of the Army MARS program and have the call AAR0CZ. I am the NCS (Net Control Station) for the AAA0OR/H net on Monday evenings at 0201 Z.
My Station
I have at my Ham station an DRAKE TR7 for HF work on the MARS frequencies. This is fed into an G5RV set up as an inverted vee. I get good state-wide coverage on 4 and 7 MHz. and have even made contacts with Japan on 10 meters running 200 watts to the antenna system from the ICOM with other Hams in the station.
I also have VHF capablities with a Kennwood 261-A feeding a dual-band, high gain verical up at 23 feet and I am able to work simplex into Grants Pass, Oregon from my location, about 30 miles North of my location and can work the repeaters in and around the Rogue Valley, Klamath Falls, and Roseburg, Oregon. I can also work some of the repeaters in Yreka California from this location.
The antennas are fed with short (under 50 feet) of RG-8X coaxial cable, which seems to wrok fine on these short runs without too much loss on any of the frequencies.
