Chapter 1
Mac's eyes glazed with tears as she watched Billy unlock the cabin door.
"Mac don't worry about a thing, I am not going to let anything happen to you" Billy assured her.
"I know. Its just that there's so much you don't know, so much I want to tell you. I am just so scared!" Mac said as tears forcefully fall down her face. They walk into the cabin and Mac puts down her things on the couch. Billy tells mac to have a seat and he will get her some water. While Billy is in the kitchen Mac starts to have flashbacks.
"Mac you will never be loved again. No matter what you do or say, no one will ever love you after what you've done."
"No No please don't say that. Just leave me alone!"
"Mac , Mac are you okay.... Mac?"
"Huh, oh yeah I am fine. Billy there's so much we need to talk about. So much I need to tell you." Billy silently thought to himself what could he do to ease Mac's pain. What has happen to her that is making her so scared he thought.
"Mac just tell me what you feel comfortable telling me."
"Okay, you might want to sit down" As Billy sat down the tears slowly dried and Mac began to pour her heart out.
"Mac, just take it slowly. One thing at a time."
"Okay Billy first I should tell you why I came to Genoa City in the first place, and why I ran away from home."
Chapter 2
Mac's heart was pounding as she began to relay the events of her life to Billy.
"When I was little I used to hear my mom talk to some man about how terrible my dad was to her. Well this guy eventually became my stepdad, and well to put it bluntly, he was just as bad to my mom as my dad had apparently been. And anyway a few years went by then this man started treating me badly and...."
"Mac you don't have to go on if you don't want too."
"No Billy its ok I can do it. Okay my step father was abusing me and my mom was letting him. I couldn't believe it I found out later that my real dad never really abused my mother. It was all just talk because my mom had an affair with my step dad and my real dad left her. Well this one morning I woke up and decided there would be no more. I was not going to be hurt anymore."
"What did you do Mac?"
"I did the unthinkable."
"And what was that exactly?"
"Billy I don't know if I should tell you. I mean nobody knows. I don't even know if my mother knows. I am sure she probably figured it out my now, but I can't say for sure."
"Come on Mac, tell me"
"Just promise me one thing Billy. Promise me that after I tell you, you won't freak out and run."
"Mac nothing you could say would make me want to leave you. Nothing I..... well go head, tell me."
Chapter 3
Mac thought carefully about how to tell Billy eactly what happen on that day, but she was still unsure how. Finally she sucked in her gut and proceeded......
"I was supposed to be gone to have gone to school that morning, but something was telling me I couldn't go. I knew something had to be done, and I wasn't going to let it go on forever. I knew that my mom would be at work that day and my step dad had a business trip to Genoa City. I went ahead and got ready for school, just so no one would suspect anything. Then after my mom left for work, I followed my step dad to the airport. I watched him for what seemed like an eternity. Then I did it, I walked up to him right before he got out of his car and I....."
"What did you do Mac? Please don't be scared. I am right here for you."
"Billy I don't know...I just....please don't hate me. It just had to end. I couldn't take it anymore."
"Mac I all ready told you how I feel and that's not going to change no matter what."
"Billy I killed him...I pulled out a gun and shot him. I was so scared I grabbed his ticket and got on the plane. That's how I ended up here. I've heard from no one back home since."
Billy could feel the blood rushing to his head. His heart was pounding as fast as Mac's was. The only thing he knew to do was grab her and hold her. No words were said for about ten minutes. They just sat there and held each other. Mac felt somewhat relieved that Billy wasn't saying anything. She wasn't sure what he would say if he did say something to her. Billy felt the same way. Finally after what seemed like an eternity, Billy pulled away and looked into Mac's eyes.
"Mac we're going to get through this together. not just you, but us. Your part of me know and we're not going to look back. I want to be with you and if dealing with your past is something that comes with that, then that's just that. I'll deal with it. All I know is that I am going to be there for you no matter what. Mac I ....I love you."
"Billy I don't know what to say. I don't know what I've done to deserve you."
"You Don't have to say anything Mac. just know that I love you."
"I love you to Billy." Both Mac and Billy began to cry. They both knew there love was stronger then anything they had ever known or felt before. They also knew they were going to have a long road ahead of them.
"Billy what are we going to do now?"
Chapter 4
"Mac don't worry about a thing. All we're going to do right now is sit her and keep each other company. I don't want you to even think about anything you just told me thje rest of the time we're here. This is supposed to be a relaxing getaway, and that's exactly what its going to be."
"Billy I don't want you to regret being with me."
"How could you even say that? Mac, you mean more to me then anything."
"Billy there is something else I never told you. Its about your mother."
"Not now Mac, let's talk about this later. I don't want this to be ruined."
"But I've all ready ruined it."
"No don't even think that. You've not done anything like that. Let's just forget about this whole thing for awhile okay?"
"Okay."
Mac and Billy sat and stared at each other there hearts pounding wondering what the other was thinking. Billy slowly stands up and pulls mac with him. He remembers that he brought his CD player with him with a few CD's. He kisses Mac on the cheek and walks over to turn on a CD. Mac rembers the song well it was the song they danced to night of prom.
"After prom I went and bought the CD I had to have it. Every time I hear it I can feel you back in my arms and the smell of your perfume llingering around me."
"Billy your embarassing me."
"Don't be. Would you like to dance?"
"I'd love to." Billy and Mac danced for what seemed like an eternity.Neither one wanting to let go of the other. Finally Mac could tell Billy was wanting to say something to her.
"Billy is something wrong?"
"Mac there's something I want to ask you. Its about us and being here tonight alone."
"Go ahead its okay"
Chapter 5
"Mac I was wondering if you were going to be comfortable staying here tonight if I stayed with you."
"Billy I don't want to stay here by myself. I want you to be here with me." Billy felt a little relieved He was scared he was going to make Mac feel a little uncomfortable. Billy realized Mac was getting hungry.
"Mac I am going to run to the store and pick up some dinner. Why don't you rake a hot showe and I'll be back in no time."
"Okay just hurry." Mac realized Billy was going to be gone longer then ten minutes. She was still a little nervous about being with Billy alone, but she knew it would be worth it. She wanted to be with Billy. The only thing is she was scared that he would want to be with her like all of the other New York girls he was used to. Mac tried to hurry in the shower, but little did she know someone had come into the cabin.
Chapter 6
Little did Mac know the store was just five minutes away from the cabin. so Billy had gotten back right after she got in the shower. Billy wasan't sure if Mac knew he was back yet or not, so he just played it cool. Billy had bought a few candles while he was out the cabin was known for power outages and he didn't want Mac to to get scared in case the power went out. When Mac got out of the shower she could smell food cooking. Billy had dimmed the lights and had some candles burning. Mac came out of the bedroom, her hair still wet, wearing an old pair of socks, a pair of her dad's boxer shorts, and an old tank top.
"Wow Mac you look great" Billy hadn't realized he said that before it was to late. He only meant to think it.
"Thanks Billy its only an old shirt and shorts. I wasn't really dressing up for anyone. When I packed, I guess I was just throwing clothes in a bag. I didn't really care what I wore."
"Mac sometimes I think you underestimate yourself sometimes. Anyways let's eat dinner's ready."
"I didn't know you knew how to cook."
"There are a lot of things you don't know about me Mac."
"I hope you'll let me learn them."
"Mac I hope you'll learn everything about me, just like I want to learn all about you, and I do mean everything....."
"Billy....."
"Relax I am only kidding for now. Hopefully one day we will..."
"Okay Billy I think we need to eat before you end up in la la land. Both of them began to laugh and sat down to enjoy dinner. Mac couldn't remember the last time she had had so much fun. Billy I am really having a great time. I just wish it didn't have to end after tonight."
"Who said it did?"
"We're going to have to go home tomorrow and face families. I am sure there wondering wehere we are."
"Right now my only focus is you and us." Billy stood up and walked over to Mac. He handed her his hand and she took it and stood next to him. Mac slowly ran his hand up her arm, and then to her shoulder, then to the nape of her neck. Mac quivered a little.
"Is this making you uncomfortable? I can stop."
"No its just that nothing like this has ever happen to ne it feels so perfect."
"Its not over yet." Billy leaned over and gently started kissing her.
Chapter 7
Mac and Billy's tender kiss slowly begins to turn more passionate. Billy pulls away.
"Mac I want you to know that I don't want to pressure you into anything. I hope you know that."
"Billy you know I wouldn't do anything I wasn't ready for. Besides I am ready to do anything with you, and only you."
"But Mac.... Mac interrupted him by putting her fingers over his mouth. She slowly brongs her lips to replace whre her fingers were. She begins to touch his face. Slowly and nervously she begins to kiss his cheek. then closer and closer to his neck she moves. Billy stops her. Mac we shouldn't be doing this."
"Don't you want to?"
"Mac I want to be with you more then anything, I just think that you vulnerable right now."
"Billy that's not how it is at all. I love you and want to be with you. Are you sure your ready for this? I mean I just thought...."
"What?"
"Well you said you got a lot of action back in New York and I just thought this is what you wanted."
"Mac I want to be with you I do, but only if its what you want? Billy and Mac stared at each other with passion in their eyes. Slowly they began to kiss then more fiercely they began to kiss and explor each other. Billy kisses her all over and she returns the kisses. Mac nothing will ever tear us apart not now not ever."
"Billy just love me."
Chapter 8
Billy picked Mac up and carried her to the couch. He gently laied her down and began to kiss the side of her neck. Mac eyes slowly began to fill with tears. She mever imagained that being in love could feel like this. She knew that she was never going to to feel this way about anyone else and she knew everything had to be perfect. "Billy wait...."
"I am sorry Mac, did I do something...."
"No No sweetie I just want everything to be perfect. Mac got up and turned the music back on lightly she turned off the lights. The candles Billy had lit were glimmering and lighting up the whole cabin. Billy I've got to run into the bathroom real quick. I don't supposed you know how to build a fire do you?"
"I sure do. Would you like me to build one?"
"Please I'll be right back."
"Okay but you better hurry." Billy and Mac wink at each other as Mac hurries into ther bathroom and quickly closed the door behind her. A hundred thoughts were running through Billy's mind at that time. He kept wondering what she was doing in there. Billy had built the fire and poured two glasses of sparkling water. (You didn't thin I'd have him drinking again did you?) At that moment the bathroom door opened and Billy's face lit up.
Chapter 9
Billy couldn't believe what he was seeing standing in the doorway.While Billy was gone to the store Mac had wandered through the drawers in bedroom and found some lingerie. She pulled a few articles out, jut in case something were to happen between her and Billy. Mac slowly slipped one on to surprise Billy.
"Mac oh God tell me what's going on."
"Billy I am so sorry I didn't mean for this to happen."
"Mac who is this man?"Someone had secrety ksnuck through one of the bedroom window into the cabin while Mac was in the shower and Billy was gone to the store.
"This is my step father."
"Sir please let her go. Please let here go." Mac's step father was beginning to get angery.
"Don't tell me what to do, she;s my baby not yours. I am taking her home where she belongs and she belomgs to me. Ain't that right baby? My sweet precious little baby."
"Mac what's he talking about?"
"Billy please just go run run."
"No way I am not leaving you here with this man." Mac's step father threw her down on the couch. He started to walk over to Billy with a small smirk on his face
"So you don't want to leave huh? Well you can stay around if you want. Its going to be a h*** of a show." Her step father began lauging out loud hysterically.
Billy ran. He quickly ran pver to Mac and picked her up. The two of them ran as heard as the cpuld out the front door. Mac's step father tried to catch up to them but he was too slow. He was an older man, about fifty or so, and he was one of thoes men tha you could picture sitting in there recliner drinking a six pack. Needless to say, he was no match for Mac and Billy.
Chapter 10
Billy and Mac had escaped. But where would they go now? Billy was confused as to what had just happened, but he knew Mac was too upset start asking questions now. Billy and Mac walked silently through the woods. Both wondering what the other was thinking. They finally came upon a clearing in the woods. They both noticed a car tha looked like it had been abandoned. Mac had learned about cars when she was younger growing up in of St. Louis and on the streets. She had the car up and running in no time. Soon. they were off. Heading toward the east, heading towards an unknown ans scary future.
Chapter 11
"Look Mrs Chancellor, I am sure we're going to find her soon."
"Thank you Raul. I know you must be scared too. It just when I think of Mac running away again, it really scares me. I don't know if Mac ever told you about why she ran away the first time, but its not something that should be taken lightly. I was a very serious matter."
"No Mrs. C, Mac never meantioned it., in fact she never really talked about why she came to Genoa City in the first place. All I know is that her mother isn't one of her favorite people."
"Well that's certainly and understatement."
"What do you mean? Please tell me what happen." As Raul sat silently listening to Mrs. Chancellor talk about Mac's past, he could feel his heart dropping to his stomach. He had never heard something so terrible. About that time Jill waled though the door.
"Oh great are we having a pow wow?"
" Jill, don't you have some man to lust over?"
"Listen to me you old nag....No...no I don't have time for this. Have you seen my son anywhere Raul?"
"No Mrs Abbott, I haven't talked to Billy in a few days."
"Oh really well where's Mackenzie?"
"She's not here right now."
"Really? Well isn't that interesting." Raul and Mrs Chancellor silently look at each other, wondering what Jill meant by what she just said. Jill sarcastically said her good-byes and left.
"Don't yo worry Raul, we're going to find her. Don't you worry about that. And don't worry about Jill, she tries her best to get onder everybody's skin."
Chapter 12
Billy and Mac pulled into a parking lot of a hotel right outside of California. They had been driving for days and realized they needed to phone home. Mac called first. She explained to everyone where she was and what happened. "Grandma I am fine, really please just tell everyone we will be back home in a couple of weeks.I want to let all this smooth over."
"Mac, honey, there's something I need to tell you. But first let me ask you, is Billy with you?"
"Yes he is."
"Oh dear God."
"What's wrong Grandma? Please tell me.What happen back home?"
"I think I should talk to Billy. No...No... I can't tell you right now. You both need to come home right away." Mac hung up the phone and quiclky explained to Billy what her Grandmother had told her. She could tell Billy was very upset. She tried not to say anything that would upset him anymore then he all ready was. They drove as quickly as they could. Mac still unsure of what her grandmother was meaning the last time she talked to her, but she was fearful of the worst. And Mac knew Billy thought the same.
"Billy?"
"Yeah?"
"I don't know exactly what happen, but I just want to apologize for everything I ever said about your mother."
"Mac I...."
"I know, Billy. I am sorry."
"No its not that. Its just that I always knew you weren't my mother's favorite person and I never expected you to care about her. Thank you for being so honest with me."
"I don't know what to say."
"Mac I want to be there for you in every way."
"And Billy, No matter what happens or has happened I am always going to be there for you." Mac scooted over and Billy wrapped his arm around her. They sat that way the entire drive home. Both listening to the other's breathing.
Chapter 13
Mac and Billy arrived at the Chancellor mansion during the middle of the night. They both knew it was no use to wake everyone up and let them know they were home. They both decided to go to sleep and wait and discuss everything in the morning. They were both a little uneasy as to what happen to Billy's mother. But they both had something else on their minds, the sleeping arrangements.
"Billy why don't you go sleep in mt room? I'll sleep down here on the couch."
"Are you kidding I am not going to let you sleep down here while I an up in your room, That's silly. Why don't we just both go up to your room and figure something out? I'll make a bed on the floor."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes I am sure. They slowly walked to Mac's room. They were trying not to wake anyone. When they got to her room they both just stopped. Neither was sure what the other was thinking, but they knew they were a little nervous. Mac are you okay?"
"Yeah I am fine. Are you?"
"Yeah, I mean its not like we've not been alone overnight before."
"Yeah. Mac began to feel less afraid. She just didn't want to hurt Billy in anyway. And she was afrid that something might happen to where she would. Billy put on some of Mac's dad's clothes to sleep in. And Mac came out of the bathrom in a rugged old shirt and shorts. Okay Billy, this is just silly. Why don't you just sleep up here with me? I mean its not like anything is going to happen tonight. Especially since my father is right down the hall." Both of them began to laugh quietly as they got into bed and pulled the covers up over them. They were very careful not to wake anyone up. But little did they know no one else was home.
Chapter 14
At the Abbott house, everyone was still up, even thogh it was three o'clock in the morning. They were hoping that that Mac and Billy would come there since Billy was with Mac. They didn't realize that Billy and Mac were already home. The only thing theu had on there minds was locating Jill and finding out what actually happened.
After the chase at the cabin, Mac's step father gathered any ninformation he could on Billy. He tracked down his mother at Jabot and decided to take action on what he knew would hurt Mac. He realized Mac loved Billy very deeply and he was going to do everything he could to hurt Billy so that Mac would hurt too. (I guess he didn't realize Mac hated Jill.)
Shortly after her step father found Jill he went to Jabot, sweet talking her, and asked her out to dinner. She gladly accepted. Jill was the type of women that never turned down a free dinner especially with a man. He told her he saw her picture on the website for Glow by Jabot and thought she looked like an interesting person. Jill took it upon herself to gladly tell all, and I do mean all. She went int the story of Mac liking her son and she was doing everything she could to make sure Mac and Billy stayed far away from each other. Little did Jill know her date had the same idea. Hearing this, he put a diffrent plan into action. He took Jill to a very secluded house deep in the woods, just to be sure no one would find them. Jill was beginning to get scared. Mac's step dad decided to use Jill to get to Billy. He knew Mac was with him, and that was his number one concern. He wasn't going to let her get away this time. Mac's step dad began to tie Jill up so that she wouldn't run off too. He told her he hated it when people ran from him. Jill began to be very afraid. She wanted to know what was going on. He told her. He told her everything she needed to hear. Enough to know that her son, and Mac, were in very serious danger. She couldn't believe she had told him so much. She knew that he was going to use it against Billy and Mac and she almost regretted going home because she knew that she would never hear the end of it. But despite all of her doubt, Jill knew she had to escape, but she didn't have the slightest idea of how to do it.
Chapter 15
Mac and Billy woke up in each other's arms. Both of them didn't want to get up, but they knew they had to find Ms. Chancellor to find out what was going on with Billy's mom. They looked the entire house up and down. Billy decided to call home and see if anyone was over there.
"Hello?"
"Jack?"
"Billy, boy. Thank God. Where are you?"
"I'm at the Chancellor house. What's going on?"
"Billy, I've got some bad news. First things first, don't panic. The police have......"
"The police? The police what?"
"Billy, calm down. The police have everything under control. They're out looking everywhere. They're doing their best they can do."
"Jack, what are they doing? What are they looking for?"
"Oh Billy, they're looking for your mother. She was kidnapped."
Billy hung up the phone in a daze after several minutes of conversation with his big brother. He wasn't for sure if what he had just heard was even true. He wasn't for sure what to think. Mac didn't ask any questions. She just sat and clung on to Billy hoping to provide him some sort of comfort. Billy wasn't even aware of anyone being there with him anymore. His entire world was crashing down before him and he didn't know what to do.
"Billy? Look, you don't have to say anything right now, but I was just...."
"He's got her."
"Who's got who?"
"Your step-dad. He's got my mother. He's kidnapped her."
"What? You're kidding right? Billy, please tell me you're kidding!"
"I'm very serious."
"But, why would....Oh my god, he's got her because he knows that I'm with you. And if you comme after your mom, then I would be with you so that he can get me. Billy, we can't let him hurt her. What are we going to do?"
"Okay, let's just calm down a second. I need to get back to reality and think of a plan."
"Billy, wait, I just want to say I'm sorry for all this. I never meant for any of this to happen."
Billy hugged Mac very tightly. He knew it wasn't her fault. All he knew was that this man was after Mac, and that he was using his mother to get to him, and Mac.
Chapter 16
Billy and Mac sat quietly at the Abbott house waiting for news on Billy's mother, but it seemed like nothing was coming about. Mac had this gut feeling that something was going to happen if she didn't find her step-father. Her and Billy quickly jumped into the car and drove until Mac's gut feeling became stronger. Mac had this sense of danger about her. She could sense it and usually go straight to it. Especially when it concerned her step-father.
"Mac, there's something I need to ask you."
"Sure, what is it?"
"It's about your step-father. I thought you killed him."
"I did, too. I guess I just hurt him. I never thought he would have actually lived through that. Now he's back for revenge. He's going to kill me. He's going to try and finish the job that I started to do to him."
"Mac, please don't talk that way. Everything's going to be okay. I promise that I will never let anything ever happen to you again. I promise. Right now, we just need to find my mom and finish this once and for all."
Chapter 17
It had been a week since Mac's step-father had kidnapped Billy's mother. Billy was so scared. All he could think about was that aweful man and the situation his mother was in. For all he knew, she was dead by now. "Mac I hate to tell you this, but I think we should go to the police and tell them what happen in St. Louis. I mean you shooting your step dad and the reason why. I really think it would hep the police and dectives to track him down even more."
"No Billy, I can't...."
"Why Mac?"
"Its just that my mother she would...she would......"
"She would what?
" I just know that if she realized what I did to her husband, she would come after me and hurt me."
"Your own mother would do that to you?"
"Yes she would. She hates me, and she loved him for some strange reason. Even after all the beatings. I guess she liked that kind of thing."
"Mac like I said before, I will never let anything or anyone hurt you ever again."
"I don't know Billy. I don't know if its such a good idea. Okay look let's go back to the cabin and see if he left any clues, or what not, if not, then if nothing turns up , we'll go to the police."
"Sounds good, let's go."
Before Mac could turn around and go Billy grabbed her armand pulled her close to him. They gazed passionately at each other. Finally Billy kissed her as he had never kissed her before. It had felt like forever to Mac since they'd kissed that way. They had been so caught up with his mother and her situation she was in that neither one realized that thet weren't affectionate with each other as they once were. They both agreeed that nothing would ever bring them apart, not even the current incident.
Chapter 18
Billy and Mac walked around the woods outside the cabin. In a way they were both hoping he had brought Jill here, but they knew that hew would gave been caught to easily that way. They searched the cabin but found nothing. Billy and Mac were exhasted from searching all day. Neither one knew what to say. They both knew they had to go to the police. "Billy I am scared."
"Mac I love you. I hate what this is doing to you. Promise me that when everything is over will tell everyone everything that has happen with us and with my mom?"
"Oh Billy your mom will....."
"Shhhh, I don care what my mom does. I want to be with you so bad. Nothing will ever stop that. Judging my the way I feel now, if she says we can't be together, Iam willing to pack up and leaving as long as you are with me. I don't care anymore. We deserve to be together, and we will be together,"
"Oh Billy I love you."
"I love you Mac."
Chapter 19
"Hello can I help you?" asked the man behind the counter. Mac was a little intimidated by him. She was afraid they were going to send her back home if she told them everything. Billy encouraged her. He stroked the back of Mac's hand. as she sat and told the detective everything about her life. Her step father, her mother, and the running away. The detective was a little overwhelmed. The police officer who had been working on Billy's case soon walked in and briefed as to what Mac had reported. He was hopeful that if he checked references in St Louis it would lead to clues as to where Billy's mother was.
"Well, Miss Browing, thank you for coming forward with your story. We are definitely going to check into this right away. Would you like to hang around for awhile to see if we find any leads?"
"I don't think so. I am a little exhasted. I think I am going to go home for now." Billy offered to stay. He hoped to find his mother by night fall. Mac was escorted home by another police officer who was working on the Abbott case. She didn't feel very safe without Billy. After all, she had been with him for practically two weeks straight. Something just didn't seem right again. She was beginning to have that gut feeling. "Excuse me sir, do you mind if I ask you your name?"
"Sure, its Paul Williams. Are you going to be okay by yourself?" I'll be gald to stay with you until your boyfriend comes."
"No that's okay, I am sure my grandmother is home."
"Okay well just give me a call if you need me. Here's my card." When Mac grabbed the card she noticed a shimmer out of the corner of her eye. She glanced behind the policeman and noticed a abandon car in the woods behind the mansion near the stables.
"The stables of course."
"Mam?"
" Sir, I think I know where Mrs. Abbott is. You may need to call for backup."
"Are you sure you know where she is?"
"Well no, not absolutely. But I have a gut feeling." Mac pointed to the abandon car in the woods. She explained that it is the same car her step father used to drive, but it was just a diffrent color now. Mr Williams called for back up and not five minutes later a plice car drove up and Billy jumped out.
"Mac what happened?"
"Billy look."
"Who's car is that? Is it his?"
"Yes I am pretty sure."
"Has anything been done yet?"
"No, we were waiting for back up."
"Well, where do you think they are at?"
"I have a feeling they could be in the stables. I've just got that gut feeling again. I got it when we passed by there driving up to the house."
"Come on Mac let's go."
Chapter 20
A plan was hatched were Mac would go into the stables pretending to be feeding the horses and Billy would follow bring water. The police figured he would talk if it was just Mac and Billy and no police. Mac was scared, but she was ready to face her fears. Billy was just ready to find his mother. Mac slowly waled into the stables and began to feed the horses. Billy followed with the water. All of a sudden they heard something in the tack room. Billy dropped the water and Mac turned around very quickly. They both glanced at each other and began to walk towards the door of the tack room. Billy told Mac to stand back until he got the door open. Mac did as she was told. Billy opened the door and just about fainted.
"Oh my God."
" Billy what is it?" Mac hurried and scrabbled to look in the tack room. She couldn't believe her eyes. Her step father was lying there with a gun shot wound to the chest. Jill was sitting int the corner scrunched up in a little ball. She was shaking and very jittery.
"Mom are you okay?" Jill jumped she was so scared.
"Billy, Thank God, oh Billy I am sorry foe everything. I am sorry Mac oh thank God your all right. He told me he was going to......" Jill stoped when she realized that sh was going to say he was going to kill her. But Mac wasn't even listening to her and Billy's conversation. Mac slumped down next to her step father. She began to cry. For some reason, she felt like she had been the one who killed him, just like she thought she had a long time ago.
"Mac, Mac are you okay?"
"He's gone."
"Yeah he's gone. He'll never be able to hurt you again."
"Yeah that's what I thought before."
Jill stepped up. "Honey if you think he's going to come back to life alive after what I did to him your wrong."
Billy told his mom to just calm down and quit taking everything out on Mac. She was a little surprised. He went ahead and told her how he and Mac felt about each other. She wasn't pleased at all, but surprisingly, she agreed to accept it. She didn't want to do anything else to put there lives in dangerlike she had all ready done.
"Jill I know that you don't approve of me seeing your son, but I truly do love him. Nothing is going to change that and I promise that I will never do anything to hurt him. Nothing will harm your son on my account."
"Thank you Mac, I am sure you mean that." Jill sounded sarcastic to a certian extent, but deep down, Jill really meant what she'd said. At that moment in time she couldn't think about Billy being with anyone else.
Chapter 21
The summer was over and Billy and Mac were back to school. They knew things were going to be diffrent this year because all of there friends had moved away. The only ones they knew they were going to Walnut Grove Academy was each other. They were happy it was that way to. They were finally able to open up in public about there relationship and everything was great. Oh by the way.... They lived happily ever after...
