Where would Carol be today if it weren't for Charles Xavier? Probably in a vegetative state with no mind to call her own! When Carol's mind was absorbed by the mutant Rogue it was Professor Xavier who helped to restore her memories. Through weeks of mental therapy, Xavier was able to draw forth most of Carol's memories from her subconscious.

Following this, Carol remained with Xavier's X-Men and repaid his kindness by helping the team break into the Pentagon to erase the government's files on them. It was during this mission that Carol saw Rogue again for the first time. Despite her rage, Carol put the X-Men's needs first and Rogue escaped. Her loyalty to the X-Men only went so far, however. When Rogue came to Xavier for help and was offered a place on the team, Carol left. Though she understood Xavier's reasons for helping Rogue, she simply could not accept Rogue's presence on the team. Carol left with the Starjammers, a team that Xavier himself would join a short time later.
