I have been asked to give this group
something about who "Sir Richard" is and what better
place to do this than in the "Spot Light" of the HPO Person
of the
month...So here goes..I was born (yep...not hatched)
in Lincoln Park, Michigan in 1925, raised in Petersburg,
Michigan,
joined the U.S.Navy in March 1943, spent WWII in the
Pacific arena and one ship I was on was torpedoed. Stayed
in the U S Navy for 20 years and retired in 1962 as a Chief
Boatswains Mate (E-7).
Got married to wonderful lady who was also in the
Navy as a W.A.V.E,raised six children, four boys and two
girls, and have 11 grand children. We have been married
48 years.
Worked for Northrop A/C in Anaheim, Ca. as a
Security
Officer, worked in Construction, had my own Private Patrol
Service, was Fire Chief of the Green Valley Lake,Ca. Fire
Dept. and did whatever else came my way. I just had a good
time at what the devil said
was fun...became an alcoholic and "religion" was not a part
of my life.
On 21 Oct.1974 I had a heart attack (age 49).
Drs. had me like a vegetable, can't do this, can't do that,
can't eat this, can't eat that, etc. While in the hospital
I became a "Born Again Believer" and turned my life
completely over to Christ. After being released from
the hospital I went to a Revival meeting and God touched my
heart and healed it. The Dr. didn't believe what happened
and said all he knew was that I now had the blood pressure
of a young boy and took me off of all medications and to
this day I have not had a problem with my heart...God is so
good...when God heals He does a perfect job...Praise
His Name...
We were instrumental in the starting of five
churches,taking
part in the
leadership...17 years in Evangelistic work in an
RV,ministering to "Snowbirds" and to
whom ever would listen.
Seven
of those years were with the "Christian Crusaders" a
motorcycle ministry out of Washington State to the
biker world.
Worked with several Tent
Ministries...where my wife sang for the
Lord and I did PR & Video work. We give God all the
Glory for the souls that were brought to God through Jesus
our Saviour.
We are at present time off the road to
minister to family needs in Joshua Tree, Ca....upon our
completed tasks here we are open to the Lords leading where
ever He takes us. It's been 30 years of ups and downs,
valleys and mountains,...a lot of learning, stretching &
growth and thru it all we have promised to
do----"WHATEVER IT TAKES"----.
During our travels in Ministry we took on
collecting various items...The wife started collecting
Polar
Bears
and I was
tagged with the title of "The Goofy Redneck" in the
Motorcycle Group so I took on
collecting goofy's.
The title of our
web page"WHATEVER IT TAKES" is my wife's testimony song
that she sang at most every Gospel Meeting.
When we came off the road RVing we bought this contraption
called a Webtv so we could e-mail the children and from
that day on I have been hooked.
I have built a webpage
called
"WHATEVER IT TAKES" a Family & Christian oriented
site of encourgement and helps in your Christian walk.
I recieved the tag of "Sir Richard" from another NG where
they had
a Castle page and I became "Sir Richard" as I became the
guardian of the Castle.....nuff said...:-)
Click onto this little guy and see what I have been
doing while waiting on the Lords directions. This has
been a Ministry in itself.
Now that you have read all this. Here is what the person
looks like.
Please don't throw to big of stones.... Not
bad
for 75 years ????
