Before the world was made, there was only darkness. God decided to make the world. He looked upon the darkness and saw a need for light.
He said "Let there be light." And he called the darkness night. The light was called day. God then made the beautiful heavens. Below the heavens, He made the land and the seas. God told the land to grow plants and food. God saw all that He made was good. And this made God very happy.
God made a light to shine in the day. Can you guess what this light is? The sun! That is right. He made other lights to shine in the night. These lights He called the moon and the stars. God made all the animals to fly and fill the sky. He made animals to live in the seas. He made animals to walk upon the land. Again, God was very happy when He saw all that He had made.
Now, can you guess what God made? He made the first man. He made him from the dust of the earth. He called the first man Adam. God gave Adam all of the plants and animals for his food. God placed Adam in the Garden of Eden. God told Adam to take care of all animals and plants. God told Adam to name all the animals on earth. Isn't it fun when You get to name your pets. Adam saw that none of the animals were like him. He was the only man.
God saw that Adam needed a mate. God made Adam fall into a deep sleep. God then took out one of Adam's ribs and made it into a woman. She was the first women, her name was Eve. She was to be Adam's wife and helper. Adam was very happy. Together, they took care of the animals and plants. Their was a lot of food to eat in the beautiful garden. God told them that they could eat any of the food that grew in the garden, except the friut from one tree. This tree was called "the tree of knowledge of good and evil". They were never to eat from this tree.
A serpent (a snake) came to Eve one day and tricked her. He told her if she ate from the tree of good and evil, she would be very smart. Eve saw the fruit on the tree of knowledge looked very good to eat. So she listened to the snake an ate the fruit. Eve then gave Adam some of the fruit and he ate it too. They had not obey God! After they ate the fruit, they saw they were naked and were very ashamed, they covered themselves with plants. They heard God coming and hid.
God saw them hiding and knew that they had eaten the fruit He had told them not to. Think how sad that made God. It makes your parents sad when you disobey them too. God made Adam and Eve leave the garden of Eden. They would have to work for all there food from now on God told them. They would never be allowed to come back to the Garden of Eden again. To keep Adam and Eve away from the garden, God put a flaming sword and angels at the east end of the garden. Adam and Eve were both very sad they had hurt and disobeyed God.
