IMMIGRATION POLICY A
COP-OUT For quite some time now our government has ignored the south border, under-manning and under-equipping our border patrol activities. This failure to protect the interests of our legitimate citizens has allowed nearly twelve million illegal immigrants to enter our land and call the United States of America their home. Unable to properly respond to decades of such mismanagement and currently unable to stop this flow with existing methodology, the federal government has essentially given-up by intending to roll out its policy of transforming those now deemed as illegals into legal Americans through a method of amnesty. Therefore, the US government has shown a fantastic level of weakness, quitting on Americans and catering to these immigrants who are nothing more than invaders…the very same type of human being our national security initiative and associated global war on terrorism are attempting to corral. The government has tried to sugar coat its hypocritical surrender by putting a politically-correct spin on it. By harping on a down-and-dirty guest worker stand in unison with an argument of human rights, they have tried to circumvent rage from our citizens by attempting to turn it into a feel-good issue where we would feel like we are doing a glorious favor towards those who came here for a better tomorrow. Looking past this smokescreen, one cannot help but cast a discerning eye at those we are supposed to be honoring with citizenship. How can a nation forge respect for those who have disrespected our laws and desecrated countless generations of legally assimilated Americans? These individuals willingly and maliciously broke our laws and invaded our turf, circumventing the very system that has been followed by immigrant Americans since the days of Ellis Island. In some strange way our government finds it alright to promote lawbreakers while damning those who have used or have been trying to use lawful means by which to become Americanized. It almost appears easier to become an American through illegal means than it does legal means. One can also assume the government perceives there to be an insurmountable battle were it to enforce current immigration policy. Now doubt our powers-that-be shudder at the thought of having to conduct a massive round-up of millions of people and the subsequent detainment and or removal of the very transients they had allowed to enter our borders. Twelve million illegals is a hard number to swallow. But, were our government to follow that mentality in all facets of security and social betterment, it would have thrown in the towel on the war on drugs (110 million Americans have been at least one-time users) and the war on terror (countless primarily-Islamic terrorists are hidden amongst 1.5 billion Muslims the world over). Perhaps boding well for a change to the situation that brought us to the problem at hand, the newfound policies for immigration law – which in essence are only reinvigorated policies – ensure future illegal immigrants and their harborers will be handled through appropriate legal channels. This sounds all well and good at first, but that was and should have been enforced as the appropriate action for decades, as already-existing laws dictate. The US government lost a border war and lost it badly. It can’t admit failure openly, but is doing so through actions that ultimately speak a thousand words. Did you ever imagine that you would see good ol’ Uncle Sam looking beaten and waving a white flag? That’s how he should look now, as our elected officials – Republicans and Democrats alike – have caved-in to the demands of illegal immigrants who have invaded America and whose "rights" have been placed over and above those of our own citizens.
