Steve and Devon rode up to chicago together and after a 5 hour trip (and getting lost a few times) they found the hotel. Once the rest of the band got there in Buster's suburban, they all went out for dinner. We found a New Orleans style restruant, with lots of hot sauce bottles on the wall, and we all got spicy foods and tried the different bottles on our food. Steve, Adam and Joey all tried the stuff they kept locked up in a cabinet, and even though they were warned to thoroughly wash their hands after touching the bottles before they went to the bathroom, Steve ignored the advice and walked around with a hot crotch the rest of the night. Then the boys all went back to their hotel room with a couple of cases of beer and proceeded to get sloshed. They thought it would be the perfect opportunityh for a photo op, so following steve's lead, they took all the lampshades out of the room and put them on their heads. The next day, the band went to the modern art museum of chicago before heading over to the "Pop Overthrow festival". Buster, however, had to make a pitstop in the museum bathroom for what i witnessed to be a 20 minute puking session from his hangover (should've skipped the big howard johnson breakfast, buster!). |

Next came the show. I thought everyone played really well, and it all went off without a hitch. Even though there was no crowd to speak of (save the other bands and their friends), we were well recieved by everyone, including David Bash, the festival's promoter. I can't say we'd make the same trip up next year, but maybe in a different version we'd play there again. |
