The interior of the shop is
shadowed and smells faintly of incense (at least you think it's incense). There are some shelves and dimly lit
display tables, with esoteric items on display. You see books, mainly
old; wrought iron candlesticks and thick, pale candles that smell of
honey; there is even what looks like a stuffed, winged monkey in a
far corner, leering at you with an evil, dusty grin. There is a
red-haired woman in her mid-thirties sitting behind the counter,
reading.
You clear your throat, as she
doesn't seem inclined to look up on her own, and she smiles at you,
placing a finger in her book to mark her place. Obviously you are not
going to occupy her attention for long.
"Choose a door," she says, not
unkindly, gesturing with her free hand.
You notice that there are doors
that lead from the main room of the shop. They are painted different
colors and have strange symbols.
"Go on, choose your door. We
have items for every taste...you may find your heart's desire.
Providing you know what that is, of course. Everything is free for
the taking; just promise to tell others where you found them. Send
other seekers back to me."
She returns to her book. You
figure what the heck, this chick might be really
weird, but you'll take a chance on the doors. You are, after all, on vacation.
And so you choose to
