     My name is Baram.  Perhaps you've heard of me, whether in years past 
because of my days train-robbing... or because you've talked to the one known 
as Shadow.  I was once the greatest train robber, maybe the greatest robber, in 
the world... at least in my mind.  My story is a complex one, one that may 
amaze you.  I hope it does.

     I endured a deprived childhood, but who cares about that.  The point is, I 
was raised to be greedy and that's how I was.  I held up my first store at age 
11.  Since then, my life had been a series of crimes, enough to make me both 
highly skilled and widely famous.  The police force, the Empire, even a few 
vigilantes... they all tried unsuccessfully to catch me.  That's how I met 
Clyde Arrowny.

     When I first encountered Clyde he was almost nothing like me, except that 
he was a robber.  He was one of the most interesting human beings I have ever 
met, and we grew to be the best of friends and partners almost immediately.  We 
had robbed over 20 different trains and banks together when we heard the news 
that would change both our lives...  The news of a train that carried 1,000,000 
gold pieces.
