  1. John O'CONNELLY was born about 1720 in Galway, Ireland.

He died about 1775.
John O'Connelly came to North Carolina from Pennsylvania in 1743 to settle in the
Lovelady Ford Section of Catawba. Four sons and three daughters were born to the
John O'Connelly family. Many are the descendants of these sons and daughters in Burke County.

Connolly is an Irish patronymic name, Anglicized from the Gaelic O Conghalaigh,
which meant 'descendant of Conghalach, whose name meant 'valiant.'
Variations are O'Connolly, O'Connally, Connelly, Conneely, Conally, O'Conely, Conley.

23. Henry Highland CONNELLY was born 4 Jun 1798 in Burke Co., North Carolina.
He died 28 Feb 1878 in Nacoochee Valley, Georgia.

    Henry was named for a prominent citizen of Burke County, Henry Highland.
    During his lifetime the spelling of Connelly was changed, and on his tombstone Henry's name
    appears as Henry H. Conley. Henry Highland Conley died February 28, 1878 and was buried in
    the Nacoochee United Methodist Church Cemetery at Nocoochee Valley, Georgia.
    His wife, Nancy Anne Brown died October 22, 1881 and is buried beside him.
Henry married (1) Nancy Anne BROWN on 21 Aug 1822 in North Carolina.

John married (1st) Martha Caroline KINCAID on 12 Feb 1839 in Burke Co., NC.
Martha Caroline Kincaid was born 12/26/1807 in Burke County, North Carolina.
Caroline died 7/8/1840 in Burke County. She was a granddaughter of John Kincaid, Sr.
born 1/10/1709 in Ireland and died in 1811 in Burke County and his second wife Nancy Nixon
born about 1720, married John in 1752 in Pennsylvania, and died about 1815.
Martha was the daughter of Robert Kincaid, Sr. (son of John and Nancy) and Elizabeth Guthrie.
Robert was born 2/28/1764 in Prince Edward County, Virginia, and died 6/26/1836 in Burke County.
Elizabeth was born in 1782 (location unknown) and died in 1862 in Burke County.
Robert and Elizabeth were married in June 1802 in Lincoln County, North Carolina
(part of Lincoln County later became part of Burke County). Robert and Elizabeth are buried
in the Bristol-Kincaid Cemetery in Burke County a private, family cemetery.
Elizabeth was Robert's second wife. He was first married to Margaret Dunn. Birth info is
unknown but she died 10/1/1798 in Burke County. They had four children.

John Wesley Connelly and Martha Caroline Kincaid had one child, Pinkney Connelly, who was
born on 12/6/1839 and died on 7/26/1840, a few days after Martha died.
John then married (2nd) Martha's sister, Nancy Nixon Kincaid, about 1842.
Nancy was born in 1805 and died in 1875.
