Friends John Swift Sr, John Swift Jr, Henry Abbott, and Peter Chamberlayne. Exec Wife Joane.

    Dear Mr Connelly,
    Thank you for your message. Kelly's Directory of 1939 states that, 'Eling is a parish and village near the head of Southampton Water, on the western side, one mile south from Totton, 5 west from Southampton, 6 south from Romsey and 86 from London, in the New Forest and Christchurch division of the county......
    The old ecclesiasical parish of Eling was divided into six parishes, Eling, North Eling or Copythorne, Netley Marsh, Marchwood, Colbury and Testwood.
    Eling parish now only contains the village of Eling and the portion of Totton not con tained in Testwood.......The parish registers date from 1538.' You may also like to know that the County of Southampton was renamed Hampshire in the 1950s.

Joshua TODD witnessed the will of Evan Morgan Dec 11, 1708. Also witnessing were John Manners and John Swift Jr.
He had the following children:

      + 9 M ii. John B. TODD was born before 1710 and died about 1768.
        10 M iii. Samuel TODD was born in PA.
        11 M iv. Thomas TODD was born 1723 in Philadelphia, PA. He died 1777 in Rowan Co., NC.

        18 F iii. Elizabeth (Jamima) TODD was born about 1763 in Rowan Co., NC.

John married (1) Judith BEARDEN.
They had the following children:

12. Benjamin TODD 1st was born about 1728 in Easton, PA. He died about 1812 in Boonesborough, Madison Co., KY.
Benjamin married Sarah GRIFFIN, daughter of William GRIFFIN and Sarah BECK on 1750.
They had the following children:

        24 M i. John TODD was born 3 Jun 1752 in Easton, Northampton Co., PA. He died 1819 in Ga.
        25 F ii. Elizabeth TODD was born about 1754 in Easton, Northampton Co., PA.
      + 26 M iii. Peter TODD was born 23 Jun 1756 and died 18 Apr 1840.
        27 M iv. Joseph TODD was born 4 Aug 1757/1758 in Easton, Northampton Co., PA. He died 30 Dec 1842 in Madison Co., KY.
        28 M v. Benjamin TODD 2nd was born about 1759 in Easton, Northampton Co., PA. He died 1853/1855 in Rutherford Co., TN.
        29 M vi. Thomas TODD was born 3 Jun 1761 in Easton, Northampton Co., PA. He died 5 Apr 1843 in Lawrence, Indiana and was buried Apr 1863 in Gilgal Cemetery. Thomas married Zipporah CONGER on 1781.
        30 F vii. Mary TODD was born about 1763 in Easton, Northampton Co., PA. She died 1799 in Wilkes Co., GA.
        31 M viii. William TODD was born 28 Apr 1765/1768 in Easton, Northampton Co., PA. He died Nov 1849 in Madison Co. Ky.
        32 M ix. Aaron TODD was born 28 Apr 1765 in Easton, Northampton Co., PA.

        36 F iv. Esther TODD was born about 1754.
        37 F v. Sarah TODD was born about 1756.

19. Benjamin TODD was born 1759/1766 in PA..
Benjamin married (1) Mary Jane RUSSELL before 1780. Mary was born 1762. She died 20 Nov 1866 in Cannon Co., TN.
Mary Jane Russell is shown on the 1860 United States Census for Cannon Co., Tennessee living in the household of her grandson Walker Todd.
She is listed as Mary Todd age 94.
 
Benjamin and Mary had the following children:

        39 M i. Reuben TODD was born 1780. He died 1883/1886. Aileen Corley, a descendant said Reuben Todd had 21 children. Reuben married (1) Jean RUSSELL about 1809.
      Jean died about 1825. Reuben also married (2) Jemima TODD on 1 Apr 1827. Jemima was born 1809. Jemima Todd b. 1860/70 in Cannon co., TN was the daughter of William Thomas Todd b. 28 Sept. 1793 in NC and Margaret Spear b. 7 Sept. 1796 died 1860/70 in Cannon Co., TN. They were married in 1815.
        40 M ii. William (Colonel Billy) TODD was born 1781. He died 1870.
      William married Jane DOUGLAS on 1804 in Kentucky.
        41 F iii. Elizabeth TODD was born before 1800.


 
 
Benjamin also married (2) Sarah MCCLANAHAN on 2 Jun 1803.
 
 
26. Peter TODD was born 23 Jun 1756 in Easton, Northampton Co., PA.. He died 18 Apr 1840 in Madison Co., KY.
Peter married Hannah CORNELISON on 10 Dec 1779. Hannah was born 17 Jul 1756/1757. She died 1844 in Madison Co., KY.
They had the following children:

        42 M i. Aaron TODD was born 27 Aug 1784
        43 F ii. Mary (Polly) TODD was born 16 Jul 1786 in Madison Co., KY. She died after 1875 in Madison Co., KY.
        44 M iii. Griffin TODD was born 1788 in Madison Co., KY.
        45 M iv. William TODD was born 24 Aug 1789 in Madison Co., KY. He died 7 Sep 1885 in Madison Co., KY.
        46 F v. Anna TODD was born 24 Oct 1790 in Madison Co., KY.
        47 F vi. Sally TODD was born 19 Jun 1793 in Madison Co., KY. She died 14 Sep 1891 in Clarksdale, DeKalb Co., Mo. and was buried 15 Sep 1891 in Salem Cemetery.
