Note: In honor of the release of Warner Bros. "The Queen of the Damned", I've decided to devote this little corner of my site to the film. If you are wondering why I did not just integrate the QotD Movie content within the rest of my site, that is because I feel as if my page honors the Lestat of the books, and indeed the books themselves, and I don't feel as if the QotD film accurately or honorably portrayed Anne's Lestat. That is not to say I don't like the QotD for what it is (good, campy fun), but it's simply not a good representation of the Lestat we see in the Chronicles. "Interview With the Vampire", on the other hand, is a movie which I feel had a primary goal to not only be a good film but also an accurate representation of Anne's book, and it is for that reason that I have given that film, as well as Tom Cruise's Lestat, more respect and prominence on this site.
Having explained my motives, let me just say that I am not trying to single out fans of the "Queen of the Damned" film. I've made no secret of the fact that I don't like this movie, but I respect your right to enjoy it. I hope you can all understand why I have chosen to treat the movie as an entity seperate from the books. If you have any content (such as pictures, wallpapers, etc.), that you'd like me to add to this particular page, please e-mail me.

A Vampire Chronicle's Fan's Journey Into the Light | This is my sordid tale of going from an ardent QotD Movie basher to somebody who simply can't wait till the damn thing comes out. Includes "The Die-Hard Anne Rice Fan's Guide to Enjoying the QotD Movie." Note: This article was written before I'd actually seen the film. For post film content, and my informed decision on the movie, see the below review. |
Queen of the Crammed | My personal review of the QotD flick. It is not negative, it is not positive. If anything, I'll say I was dissapointed, and increasingly bitter towards the fact that Hollywood seems more than willing to thrown just about anything on the screen. |
Queen of the Damned Movie, or, the Movie Without a Hair Dye Budget | My friend Vic's (she of the brilliant Lestatheist pages) review. Consider this the opinion of someone who is a big enough fan of the source material to understand why the QotD movie was such a glaring disappointment. She's a bit angrier than I am, but it's a fun review :-) |
Building a Better Vampire: A Fan's Suggestions of Improving the film version of QotD | These are just my thoughts, collected after viewing the QotD DVD, on how this movie had every reason to be better than it actually was. |
QotD Media Reviews and Articles
Interview With Stuart Townsend | A great interview with our new Lestat, Stuart Townsend. As much as I have railed against Stuart's seeming laxness towards the role in the past, this interview has solidified his winning over this particular VC fan. His praise of Interview and Tom's performance played no small part in that. |
Film Review - MovieHole.com | Semi-positive review of the QotD movie. |
Film Review - DangerSeekers.com | In a word, ouch. Read this with caution if you're a fan of the book or the movie. |
