MAY 3. 1992.

 

This is how it's happened. There was a rumor that the war will start but everybody was saying, "Yes maybe but never in Sarajevo. We are to multiethnic and it's impossible that anything happened in Sarajevo.

I thought the same in that time till one night I couldn't sleep because of the voice of shooting. My grandpa was out for all night and we didn’t know where he is and if he is alive or not. Only thing that we knew is that somebody was attacking to Sarajevo (somebody - read Yugoslav army). The TV was saying that a big number of people ended in hospital because they were wounded and the whole city was blocked. In the morning I went out and this is what I could see. Just try to imagine your self that one day you get out of your apartment and see these views -that you will see below- that I saw) that morning.

 

Ovako je to bilo. Bilo je prica da ce rat poceti ali svi su govirili, "Da, mozda, ali nikad u Sarajevu. Mi smo previse izmjesani i nemoguce je da se bilo sta desi u Sarajevu.

I ja sam mislio isto dok jedne noci nisam mogao spavati jer je pucalo na sve strane. Moj djeda je bio napolju cijelu noc i mi nismo znali gdje je i jeli ziv. Jedina stvar koju smo znali je da neko napada Sarajevo (neko - citaj Jugoslovenska armija). Na televiziji su govorili da je veliki broj ljudi primljen u bolnicu radi ranjavanja I da je cjeli grad blokiran. U jutro sam izasao napolje I ovo je sta sam mogao vidjeti. Pokusajte samo zamisliti sebe da jedno jutro izadjete napolje i vidite stvari koje sam ja vidio.

About 25 m. away from presidency building and 100 m from my home

 

That was the first time that I saw dead people.

 

And even today I can't forget the smell of dead people.
