Promoted from Lt. Colonel after Chenault's death.

 

 


Field Commander:

Lt. Col James Bennett McCreary

 

Formerly served as Major, promoted to Lt. Colonel following Battle of Green River Bridge.

"You may kill me, freeze me, or starve me, but I will not betray the man who gave me the knife!"--McCreary speaking to his torturers as a P.O.W.

After the war, became Governor of Kentucky (twice) and U.S. Senator.
