MENUDOS WANT TO BE "MUSICIANS"
WITHOUT INSTRUMENTAL WORKING
The recent phenomenon of new menudos, starred by Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, Five, Westlife, Boyzone and million of others appeared and disappeared between the end of the Nineties and the beginning of XXI Century, troubles anyone not only for their singers artistic nullity.
However revolting is that those groups are currently called "bands", yet when those groups members, just singers and dancers, never play any musical instrument. It's very constrainful to see, in the presumed "boys bands" documentaries on TV, a member of N'Sync, Backstreet Boys or similar to finger an acoustic guitar chord or to play a piano key in the way like any child unlearned from music would play these instruments. They seem like babies in front of the musical instruments. And you know, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, when he was a little child, was a smooth pianist.
Everybody who really knows music recognize that the word "band", as registred by the most respected dictionaries and encyclopaedias, is a collective substantive referring to musicians. It's a collective of instrumentists, as well as "crowd" is a collective of people. But the current media stupidity makes that any idiots crew can be considered a "band", and there's so pedantry, as we see, for example, in the case of the brazilian menudo group 6L6, managed by the brazilian love songs songwriter and producer Michael Sullivan, whose members, who don't write songs, mentioned some slangs from the musicians universe, as "chords", during an interview given to the brazilian Globo Network program, "Vídeo Show".
All of this offends the musicians category, because a well-talented musician always sacrifies his life to get his competence. A musician who leaves so much times developing the moving co-ordination when he plays a instrument - an acoustic guitar's initial student, for example, feels the hands fingers and arms ache when he performs a music chord - , cannot be replaced by a merely singer and dancer who has neither music nor singing knowledge, the one who perform a coreography with other else boys in tour concerts executed by playbacks, is considered a "musician" and he and his partners, together, are considered a "band". There's no worst affront like that.
A real musician works, sacrifies his life, troubles neighbours and relatives, and sometimes gets to lose girlfriend or wife for the guitar playing compromises, everything for trying to show how he can do for music. So much youngsters wish to form bands, using their own money to buy instruments and cancelling their leisure events for writing music and making instrumental exercises. They always absent or abandon the school life for the exercises, compositions and gigs. So, to be a musician is not an easy work.
The worst of everything is that the wrong idea about the word "band" had come from the "renowned" United States of America. Even there, a TV program dedicated to the new menudos groups is called "Making the band". This terrible usage, not only doing for disestimulating the youngers to learn to play instruments and write songs, will also causa more damage to music teachers and profesionals, reducting the musicians working as a simple supporting and backstage work, whereas they're subject to have their recognition ignored, when the reputation always goes to the merely singing dancers, merely managers puppets who join these presumed "boys bands".
