THE BEATLES:
TO MAKE A BAND IS A MUSICIAN SPECIALITY

A musical band cannot be any grouping of people supposedly involved with music. It is, yet, a joint of instrumentists, engaged to the process of the music creation.

In the past, an english group started to encourage the teenagers to wish to form bands, since more than 40 years ago. The group was The Beatles, the unforgettable group from Liverpool formed by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and also Pete Best during some time and, afterwards, Ringo Starr. This forming was when the group had that name, but, in the fifties, when the group called The Quarrymen, the John, Paul and George initial band had other former musicians. In time: other musician, bassist Stuart Sutcliffe, was former early Beatles in 1960 and, after this, he left the band, and months later he got too sick and died in 1962.

The Beatles, natural from an industrial city which is Liverpool, was a vocal group, because all the members sung and made choir. But it was really a band, whereas the members, all of them, played instruments. John e Paul, yonder to be guitar players - in the Quarrymen years, Paul was the third guitarist, being the bassist years later - , played piano and harmonica. George was the lead guitarist and Ringo, the drummer. Everybody made song arrangements and compositions. They were so much rebel than they seemed when the success begun in their lives, and in true their personalities weren't so much different to The Rolling Stones, whose made an apparent antagonist relaction, which had hidden, so yet, a good fellowship that marked pratically all the british rock'n'roll bands from the sixties.

Even so in the ingenuous years, The Beatles made great songs. They were smooth songwriters. Their simplicity in the compositions made a mark, and there were not few bands who imitated the fab four style, some bands with good talent, some other bands not.

The louder idolatry from women and the apparent tutelage by the producer and maestro George Martin made the Liverpool's famous band to seem a "swindle". But they weren't. And George Martin never controlled the band, on the contrary, he waslike a teacher who felt so stimulated not just to teach but also learn with his pupils' potential. Martin and The Beatles exchanged so much views and the maestro, informed so long time about the called "concrete music", an audacity from classic music which later influenced the electronica music (born from new studio sounds tecnology and from the evolution of the electric organs on progressive rock), made The Beatles to discover the german maestro Karlheinz Stockhausen, author of the masterpieces Hymnen e Gesang Der Jünglingle, at the time the fab four broken up the gig compromises in 1966.

This fact comproves the musical integrity of the quartet. Tired for the female fans screaming shout, The Beatles, who couldn't hear what they play on gigs because the crowd was so louder, abandoned the live concerts to pay more attention on their musical experiences, growing up as musicians in their studio sessions. John, Paul, George and Ringo amplified their horizons, improving the winds from the beatnik writers (Allen Ginsberg gots to be Paul's friend) and Bob Dylan (probably the "Dr. Robert" from theLennon e McCartney's song included on Revolver, an album of 1966; Dylan had maybe initiated The Beatles to use psychedelic drugs), who laterly formed another band with George Harrison, The Travelling Wilburys. In 1967 was released the weird album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, a year after other excentrical album that influenced the Liverpool four, the californian Beach Boys' Pet Sounds.

In 1968 had come other impactful record, the album titled simply The Beatles at the principle, being nicknamed as The White Album, due to the white sleeve, which had, in vinyl version, the group's name press also in white, but in relief. In this album, the music experiments were individual, because each fab four member developed his own style, appearing divergences into the quartet. Some years later The Beatles had split, and a possible reunion in the eighties coudn't happen due to criminal death of John Lennon, at the end of 1980. Paul and John had turned again to contact, after so much times broken. An only consolation was to use some old solo recordings of Lennon, to be joined, in 1995, with the three remanents collaboration, like the song "Free as a Bird", one of the recent tracks included in Beatles antologies released since 1995. In november of 2001, yet, other remanent, George Harrison, died for a fatal cancer on lungs, throat and brain.

With their trajetory, The Beatles inspired the dream of the youngsters to learn to play instruments and write songs, essential elements to the definition of a musical band. If the dream to see the Liverpool four reunited again is over, at least we must never to end the dream of a younger to strain to be a real musician, instrumentist and songwriter. After all, is with strenght that a man acquires dignity.
