World Championships for Control Line Models

F2A, F2B, F2C, F2D

JUNIOR AND SENIOR VALLADOLID 16-24 JULY 2006

After a week of hard competitions we resume all in a few comments :

We just can say that this year it was a really big and good event, the place and the weather conditions were really good, in our opinion the organization have worked hard and in fact, they have reach a good performance. However we think that, if we want to show this sport, and to arrange more people to practise, we should allow the presence of more spectators inside of the facilities like we had in Germany in 2002. We think that in France 2008, that will be solved for sure.

This year for us (and for many people also), was not what we expected, in terms of results, the lucky star,..... continues far away !...

Several teams didn't get also the wanted objective, although with potential to go far away. In our case, we arrive with the equipment fast enough to get the semis, maybe we had proceeded for the less good solutions in some cases, in other the luck simply was not with us. But this bad luck didn't reach only the Team Contente - Goulão from POR also the Teams Fluker - Lambert from USA and Andreev - Vorobiev from RUS have experienced similar fatalities. However this results don't remove all the value and potential of this Teams. It's a question of time " maybe next Championship in 2008 France ".

In terms of news in this World Championship we can not say that something new have appeared (in terms of F2C). Only the new rules that in our opinion have not bring significative improvements. The only positive thing we have notice was the increase of the number of competitors (in terms of F2C) we have increase from 30 in 2004 in USA to 45 teams this year in Spain. However we still have more good teams that were not present for instance we miss also teams like Fisher -Straniak. But the problem remains, the Teams are basically the same since years, situation that is not good for the sport. One of this days we will have only old Teams making F2C. One other sad news is the fact of the Team SMITH - BROWN have made the last championship this year in Spain. Many thanks, for the show that nobody was capable to reach so far, see you around, Champions !

In general terms, we have experienced this year a new era with the speed increasing in a way that in a few years nobody will have physically the capacity to resist to a complete race until the end without a crash. Situation that already happens frequently. Simply because at this moment everybody can buy speed. And speed without the proper preparation ( for the Pilot ) is a disaster for the pilots and for the jury. It's necessary and urgent that the FAI responsibles implement something to start to reduce speed. This is a thing that should be considered a top priority, for safety reasons and for the future of this Sport. There are several ideas like decrease the size of the venturi, the exhaust, like we have in combat (F2D). Also the noise is an important issue and nobody is doing nothing to decrease the noise level. This is with no doubt a benefit to Pilots and Juries. One idea is to increase the size of the shield placed outside of the fuselage exhaust. With the correct dimension and configuration we can reduce speed and noise level. One other idea that should be evaluated, is the usage of a standard fuel like we have in F2A. This idea is more and more important, for two reasons: first, due to safety reasons in the airports because nobody can bring fuel in the airplanes, and second, is the decrease of speed, and at the same time to reduce the difference (of speed) between teams. This way the fuel being provided by the organization this problems can be softened. This is an issue together with other ideas should be developed in future CIAM meetings.

We hold like to emphasize also some Team's like the 3 Spanish Teams that were in a high level, with Barragan Team get maybe the best engine of the competition, with Yugov engine, Kramarenko model, and piston from Sosnosky, the team Crespi working in the piston liners adjustements, and Pepe crankcase and ceramic bearings, Barragan with the fuel,....well done ! Also the teams from, Australia in particularly the Team Rob Fitzgerald and Mark Ellins, this year with first flick's all the competition, very good and the pilot (Rob) very secure. Also a positive comment for the new Team Simons and Potter a Team with a very good potential. Also the Brazilian Teams with a very positive presence. Regarding the top Three nothing to say, in fact SURUGUE - SURUGUE, BONDARENKO - LERNER, and KRAMARENKO - CHAYKA were in fact the deserved winners. Our special congratulations to the Team SURUGUE - SURUGUE and also for is father Roland, we know that is a proud father.

For all the Team that didn't get their objectives, our best regards and continue trying the sky is not the limit. Remember that glory, is not for who gets everything at the first time, glory is for those that after falling, gets up and continues to struggle.

The Best regards to All ....
