Exchanging Favors
Chapter 9

During the dayswas admitted in the hospital, she didn’t exchange a word with 
or with anyone else; the only person she talked with was Lucy the maid, 
and the Hospital staff.
Her family got in town on the day she was able to leave the Hospital and she 
asked her brother to pick her up and take her “home”.
told the whole 
story toandthat totally understood why Lee did what he did and 
also understood whylied about the baby’s father.
On the next daygot back home, her family spent the whole day with her and 
couldn’t have a word with her because’s parents were always around her. 
Her mother askedto give the maid 2 weeks off ‘cause they would take care 
of everything.andcouldn’t see each other as much as they wanted; even 
living at the same house. After a long week the little
finally came home 
to be with her parents and to more complications.    
and her baby were sleeping whenwas called in the living room to 
discuss what would happen now thatwas home.was sat at the dinner table 
next to his mom and his father;sat in front of them.
_What do you want to talk about?
_About your and my daughter’s divorce.
_we ain`t gonna get divorced!
_We know this marriage isn’t real, so let’s face it,, it’s over. And for my 
granddaughter and’s sake, I think they will be better at home with us.
_Absolutely not! I won’t be far away from my baby girl…
_, no one is telling you that you won’t be able to see , we only think 
will be better and safe with us at home.
_, my problem is my daughter living miles and miles away from me and you 
not letting me see her growing up.
_This is my parents idea, put her away of everything that remind them that their 
little girl left home to live her own life without their rules. – said leaving 
the room.

_Dad! I’m not gonna be part of this, I’m going to check on the boys. –said 
going to see his younger brothers.
_Boy, can’t you see that this is the end of your social life? The parties are 
gonna end, staying out ‘till the morning comes is gonna end, everything you 
love will end. Being a dad isn’t an easy thing so agree with us, ‘cause we’re 
going to takeandwith us to Kentucky, there’s nothing you can 
do about it.
_With all respect, you are wrong. These are my house and my daughter; 
better; my family. And I think onlyand I can talk about it and I don’t 
think she knows about this intervention.
_Are you challenging me? This isn’t your family, it’s all a big fake and to you 
my daughter was a well-paid hooker. She’s not your family.
_!! –yelled.
_That is what she was to him and now is about time to things getting back on 
track.andare going back to Kentucky with us, period. The 
plane tickets are already bought and end of discussion.
