Brady Baby #4
Appointment #1 - 8 weeks
This first appointment was to confirm our pregnancy.  We insisted on an ultrasound, but had to settle for a quick doppler scan and heard the faint heartbeat of our 8 week old baby :)  They also took some blood for testing. Everything looks good, and I'll be seeing the doctor every 4 weeks for the next few months.  My first ultrasound will be at 12 weeks for the nuchal translucency test.
Appointment #2 - 12 weeks
The second appointment was a quick visit with the doctor.  Once again we heard the baby's heartbeat.Everything looks good, though the Dr was not happy to see that I actually lost two pounds.
Appointment #3
Finally at 12 weeks we were able to see our baby for the first time.  We had an ultrasound during our nuchal translucency screen and confirmed that there was just one baby (sigh of relief ;).  Everything looked good.  They took blood as the second part of the screening and results proved to be normal.  (2nd sigh of relief)
Appointment #4 - 16 weeks 2 days - February 14, 2008
All went well today at our 16 week appointment.  Kaia joined me so that she could be the first sibling the hear the new baby.  She and the doctor decided that it is a nice quiet baby.  Mom quickly reminded them that this will all change in a few short months.  The  doctor was happy to see that I gained a few pounds since the last appointment.
HOME
We're all growing up and starting with school,
but just when we thought, life here's pretty cool.
Mom and dad felt our home's such a bore,
and that's when they told us,
Why not make it four?
So let us be first to give you the news,
and hope mom and dad avoid baby blues.
We welcome our sibling with open arms,
and hope we don't have to move out to the farms.
No one in our house can ever be lazy,
and vistors calling will think we're all crazy.
But we'll have a blast and it'll be great,
now that we think of it, we really can't wait!
Welcome Baby #4!
~Aidan, Christian & Kaia
Appointment #5 - 19 weeks - March 5, 2008
We gained another 5 lbs since our last appointment, but all looks good.  We heard the baby's heartbeat beating away, though it was playing a little hard to get and hiding from the doppler.
Appointment #6  Anatomy scan (Ultrasound) March 21st.  21 weeks
All went well at our ultrasound.  The technician spent a lot of time getting many measurements which helped determine the size of the baby and the due date.  Our baby was measuring between 21 and 22 weeks - just on schedule and weighed in at a whopping 15 ozs.  Which is larger than Aidan, Christian and Kaia at the same age.  We saw the four chambers of the heart, the spinal cord, arms, legs, kidneys and more.  We passed on checking out the sex of our baby, so we'll all just have to wait and see in July!
Appointment #7  April 30th 27 weeks
Today was my glucose tolerence test week.  I had to drink that delicious sugary drink and have blood drawn to screen for gestational diabetes, etc.  We also took a quick listen to the heartbeat - 155 bpm.  One more pound gained and all looks good!  We've scheduled most of our remaining appointments and will be seeing the Dr every two weeks now as we enter our third trimester.  It appears that we will be able to schedule our July c-section sometime mid-June.
Appointment #8 May 21st  30 weeks
We had a great appointment today.  Mom didn't gain any more weight - phew.  And blood pressure, etc was great.  The baby was kicking and flipping like crazy - the Dr was laughing and had mom feel where the feet, tush and head was.  She also said we can start working on scheduling the c-section. So we'll hopefully have a date soon!
Appointment #9 June 6th 32 weeks
Another good appointment.  Mom gained almost 4 more pounds (all baby weight of course ;)  Nothing important to note...we are now seeing the Dr every two weeks then down to weekly visits the last few weeks.
Appointment #10 June 20th 34 weeks
All went well at this appointment.  Mom lost a pound since two weeks ago and blames her heartburn.  We met with yet another new doctor who said the heartbeat was around 145 bpm which is perfect.  But she also wants mom to have another ultrasound because she is measuring big !  Imgaine if mom has a big baby this time around :) so we'll get a sneak peak at our baby one more time before delivery - which is now less than a month away!
Appointment #11 June 27th 35 weeks - Ultrasound
Our Dr suggested we have another ultrasound today because mom was measuring big, so we had the opportunity to see the baby again.  Everything measured perfectly with the baby weighing in at around 6lbs 2 ozs.  The baby was busy playing with its toes and doing kicking up a storm  Just a few weeks to go!
Appointment #12 July 3rd -  36 weeks
We had a good appointment today.  Mom gained another 1/2 lb and blood pressure was good.  We had a quick listen to the baby's heartbeat (around 130) - it was playing hard to get, so it wasn't a great listen.  Mom will now be seeing the Dr weekly for the next 2 weeks until our new baby is born.
