The Mysterious Number 234
In the past few years several of us have speculated over the possible significance and meaning of the number 234. I was reminded of this last Friday night, May 5, 2000.
While driving to a Bible study, just out of nowhere I suddenly remembered the number 234, first noted in the ending of Vincent Tan's second angel encounter on December 23, 1993. Vincent had helped an old man (angel) get his truck started. During their conversation, the old man (angel) brought up the subject of Christ's soon return, saying, "He is coming very, very soon." I will quote the last portion of the carefully documented story in part:
The man said, "Thank you very much for your help. By the way, I left a small token for you. It will be enough to fill up your car tomorrow." That was strange, because there was no way for the man to know that Vincent had a car in addition to his truck. Vincent followed him about a mile with the man's tail lights clearly in view, then as they were going around a curve, he suddenly vanished from view. He and his truck just disappeared. Thinking his vision may have been obstructed by trees or something, Vincent even went back the next day during the daylight and retraced everything. There were no trees or anything obstructing his view. There was no human explanation. Also the next day, as he always does on Friday, Vincent took his car to the service station to fill up the tank with gasoline, so it would be full for the weekend. He had forgotten what the man had said about leaving a token "to fill up your car tomorrow." Vincent put $2.32 worth of gas in his car, then tried to round it off to $2.35 or $2.40. But he could only get it up to $2.34 and it stopped. It just would not take more than exactly $2.34. Vincent then left to visit a friend's house, but remembered that he had left the friend's Christmas gift in his truck, so he went back home. When home, Vincent decided to clean his truck a bit before leaving. While doing so, he found some money on the front seat, passenger's side, underneath his glove. The money consisted of two one-dollar bills, a quarter, a nickel, and four pennies -- exactly $2.34!"

As it has in the past, what jumped out at me again Friday was the $2.34. The number 234 has intrigued me since 1994. Nothing God does is by accident. He is not arbitrary. I have wondered what that number might mean and of all numbers available why God chose those digits. Assuming the gas tank could have been "topped off" at somewhere between $2.00 and $15.00, the odds against $2.34 were about 780 to 1. In past years there has been much speculation about this by Internet friends.
As I pondered on this while driving, the October 23, 1998 Wye Agreement between Israel and the PLO suddenly flashed before my mind. For several reasons, Ron Reese strongly believes this is the confirmed covenant of Daniel 9:27. But suddenly something jumped out at me - I remembered that Ron reported the agreement was actually signed at exactly 2:34 p.m. (EDT, the time zone where it was signed). Also, Ron says at that very same minute there was an unusual sign in the heavens: Saturn (Satan) came closest to earth and brightest in 20 years, in the sign of Pisces (Israel), and in conjunction with constellation Cetus (Antichrist). He says the odds against all this happening at the same minute, at 2:34 p.m. by mere coincidence, were more than 10 million to 1.
Could the 234 in the angel encounter be related to and add credence to the prophetic importance of the Wye Agreement? The $2.34 came from an angel in the context of a message of Christ's soon return. Then the number appears in the seventh year afterward in the context of what may be the Antichrist covenant and the beginning of the final seven years.
Previously, Internet friends have pointed out some interesting things about the numbers 234:
1. Revelation 13:18 is the verse which says the number of the beast (antichrist) is 666. And 13 X 18 = 234!
2. The digital root of 234, 2 + 3 + 4 = 9, the biblical number of finality.
3. The number 234 is hidden in the number 666, as is 153, which the number for the harvest:
6 = 1 + 5
6 = 3 + 3
6 = 2 + 4
4. Here is another. According to Bonnie Gaunt, the beginning of the Jewish
year was technically not on September 11, 1999 as shown on the modern Jewish calendar. On
the true biblical calendar as God prescribed to Moses, the 5760 would have begun on the
seventh new moon, October 9, 1999. There are exactly 234 days from October 9, 1999
to Ascension Day, June 1, 2000.
(Ron Reese has already pointed out that 666 X 3, or 666 + 666 + 666 = 1998, and that the
sum of the numbers obtained by raising 666 to the 4th, 6th and 7th powers also = 1998.)
At church on Sunday, May 7, I continued to meditate on this, and while sitting I there I decided to check on key Antichrist passages both in the Old Testament and also in the New Testament.
The classic Old Testament passage I checked was Daniel 9:26-27. To my shock, I discovered that 9 X 26 = 234, and 9 X 27 = 243!
The classic New Testament Antichrist passage I checked was 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 and I was shocked again at the 2-3-4 sequence! Another Antichrist passage is in 1 John, which is book # 23 in the New Testament. Guess what chapter? Chapter 4! So we have 23:4!
As I left church, my head was swimming with all these thoughts about 234, the Antichrist and the confirmed covenant. On the way home, I stopped at Quiznos for one of their delicious gourmet sub sandwiches for lunch. I ordered a regular veggie sub on wheat bread and a medium drink. When I got to the cash register, I was stunned when they told me my bill, plus tax, was - and I'm not making this up - it was a total of $6.66.
