Elian and prophecy?

There must be something prophetic about the sad, happy, then sad again saga of little Elian Gonzales. It is so strange how such a little refugee boy can dominate the life of a nation for so long. The Attorney General of our great nation, Janet Nero, I mean Reno, has spent just about full time on it, plus the story has captivated the news media. I don't have the answers but I offer three interesting thoughts.

1. Elian was snatched away by cursing, heavily armed Federal thugs on April 22, 2000, reminding me of the brutish Roman soldiers who came for Jesus during this same Passover week. Elian's snatching and act of infamy also occurred while Jesus was in the tomb, the day before His resurrection on our modern calendar. Bill Clinton ignored and disrespected the Christian Holy Week, as the Sanhedrin and Pilate chose Passover week to kill Jesus. Of course, the Sanhedrin and Pilate were fulfilling God's plan, although they did not realize it. Maybe Elian is too. But April 22 was also on Abib (Nisan) 17 on the Jewish calendar. My Jewish calendar tells me that on this day Noah's "flood ends." Genesis 8:4 says that the ark came to rest on that day.

One might say coincidence, but the interesting thing is that Genesis 7:24 and 8:3 says that the waters prevailed upon the earth for "150 days." If you count back 150 days from April 22, you amazingly arrive on Thanksgiving, November 25, 1999, the very day that Elian was rescued from the ocean and brought to Miami! Some liken Elian to Moses, who was found in the water and taken into Egypt.

In other words, before he was returned to Castro's control by Bill Clinton on Abib 17, Elian was free in America for 150 days, starting with the beginning of Noah's flood and ending with the end of Noah's flood!

I don't know what that means. Maybe someone will be given more understanding than I, but I do not believe it to be coincidence. As was the flood, perhaps it marks the end of an era for the world. It is no coincidence that it comes during Passover week, year 5760, a period for which there is much prophetic implication.

Abib (Nisan) 17 (April 22) was also the same day the Israelites crossed the Red Sea and the day Pharao died. It is a historical day, in ancient times, and now today.

2. Relatedly, a friend sent me a message from a John McDonnell, who made some interesting comments about Elian's name. He said: "...after I went through shock and feelings of horror over the forced removal of Elian, and after I read your comments on the situation, the idea came to me to see if there is any word in the Bible that sounds like Elian. By using 'Interlinear Greek-English New Testament Numerically Coded to Strong's Exhaustive Concordance' I discovered that the Greek word for oil is pronounced, according to Strong's Greek Dictionary, as el'-ah-yon. Matthew 25:3-4 states: 'They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil [el'-ah-yon] with them; but the wise took oil [el'-ah-yon] in their vessels with their lamps.' Perhaps the removal of Elian from American society is a sign that the Holy Spirit, represented by oil, is now being removed from American society. This would mean that II Thessalonians 2:7-8 is about to be fulfilled: 'For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he [the Holy Spirit] who now letteth [restraineth] will let [restrain], until he [the Holy Spirit] be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming.'"

I confirmed that meaning with my computer Strong's Enhanced Lexicon, which for the English word "oil," the Greek is "1637 elaion { el’-ah-yon}."

3. Finally, as I write this, word from the Clinton/Castro camp is that after staying "hidden" from the public at Andrews AFB for a few days (where no one is allowed to observe his condition, no doubt under Castro'sorders), Elian and his father may be further accorded unprecedented red carpet treatment (because of Castro) and transferred to the Wye Plantation. If this actually happens, the Wye Plantation is a place of great prophetic implication and where the Israel/PLO covenant signed by the two parties and "confirmed" by Bill Clinton on October 23, 1998. Ron Reese of Maranatha Ministries, a long-time prophecy student, is convinced that this Wye Agreement was the covenant "confirming" of Daniel 9:27 and marked the beginning of the final seven years, supporting his argument among other things with an astronomical sign in the heavens happening at "the exact same minute" the signatures were affixed.

Pray for Elian. Pray for ourselves. Even as many are being touched by God's Spirit, the cup of evil in the world is full. We are flooded and bombarded with lies, lies, lies, deception and corruption. God may be about to move.

"None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity" (Isaiah 59:4).
