Elian, and deceiving spirits in "the latter times"

"Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy..." (1 Timothy 4:1, NKJV).

Few doubt that we are in the "latter times." Here is an example how of "deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons" have captivated two nations for months, causing top leaders to speak "lies in hypocricy."

If there is anyone out there still with warm fuzzy feelings who believes the Elian Gonzales case is about "reuniting father and son," I have a bridge in San Francisco I would like to sell you.

Columnist Myriam Marquez of The Orlando Sentinel reveals a more sinister, and spiritual, motivation. First let me say that Marquez is a flaming liberal and usually supports Bill Clinton on everything no matter how many crimes he commits. That's why her report today has credibility.

With input from Cuba, she says that Fidel Castro is motivated by the Afro-Cuban religion of Santeria, a form of black magic and witchcraft. She says that Castro wants Elian back because he represents "Elegua," the mischievous boy-god of the Santeria religion. "Without Elegua, the santeros had told Castro, he was doomed," Marquez says.

Castro is the man who for decades has persecuted Christians and Jews and has closed churches and synagogues, yet oddly he has allowed the open practice of Santeria. His spiritual allegiance is clear.

He apparently wants Elian back only because of demonic superstition. This explains the irrational desire to have Elian returned. Castro does not care for children. He murders them. He does not care for father-son relationships. In Cuba, the Constitution states that children belong to the state, and the state already has plans to remove Elian from his father and put him in a communist "re-education camp" for brainwashing. No doubt the reprogramming has already begun in the secluded, lush plantation provided for Elian and Castro's agents (represented by Clinton's personal lawyer), provided courtesy of U.S. taxpayers. This demon-driven motivation explains why hundreds of thousands have fled Cuba without causing Castro heartburn, yet this one little boy -- just one little boy (and he has killed many others) -- has become an obsession for both him, our President and our Department of Justice, causing our own nation to abuse its own citizens and system of justice.

For several months, most Americas and their government have been "giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons," causing the Clinton administration, typically supported by the news media, to speak "lies in hypocrisy," just like predicted in 1 Timothy 4:1. At the same time, Elian's Christian relatives and many praying Christian friends in Miami have been denigrated and persecuted. But isn't that just like the devil?

In other words, most Americans have believed a lie. But isn't this typical of a society that has rejected God? "And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie" (Romans 1:2:11).

Hang on -- it's going to get much worse (for those left behind).
