"What drives us?"

What drives us prophecy buffs? What causes us to seek, study, speculate and yearn for that which is unimaginable to the world?

A. W. Tozer (1897-1963) said it well:

"The yearning to know what cannot be known, to comprehend the incomprehensible, to touch and taste the unapproachable, arises from the image of God in the nature of man. Deep calleth unto deep, and though polluted and landlocked by the mighty disaster theologians call the Fall, the soul senses its origin and longs to return to its source."

No doubt, our yearning is Spirit-driven, deep calling unto deep. And what might not be known or knowable to the natural mind, and what “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him ... God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God" (1 Corinthians 2:9-10, NIV).

Jesus said, “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened" (Luke 11:9-10).
