The world's children and the
return of Jesus
Some people actually object to desiring the return of Jesus because
"we still have so much to do." (But I wonder how much they are doing!)
However, whenever He does return, there will still be "much to do." Until then,
we do have much to do, but someday, soon, I believe, He will say the time has come and
will come and bring the world's misery to an end.
I am persuaded that Jesus longs to return more than we want Him. I say that because today
I received a prayer request from a respected international prayer ministry for children.
It included these facts:
* 35,000 children will die of
malnutrition and preventable disease today.
* One million children become prostitutes every
year.
* 100 million street children struggle for
survival.
Does that rip your heart? If not, please stop now and check your pulse. Think of the all
the implications of those numbers -- each a person. But this is the condition of the
world. And Jesus loves the little children, red and yellow, black and white; they are
precious in His sight.
We can pray. We can help a few. But this kind of massive problem cannot be solved in this
evil world until the Second Adam returns and restores what was lost by the first Adam.
That's one main reason I deeply desire the return of the Lord Jesus, and the thoughts of
it fill my days and nights. How can anyone not hope He comes soon? I do, and I believe it
will be soon.
