Jerusalem Day - 2000: Friday, 28 Iyar (2 June) was Yom Yerushalayim (Jerusalem Day). Thirty-three years ago G-d returned Jerusalem to the nation of Israel. Shortly thereafter, Moshe Dayan, for reasons known only to him and G-d, gave back the Temple Mount to the Arabs.
Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. It has never been the capital of another nation or people. Jerusalem is mentioned in the Bible over 700 times, yet not a single mention of it appears in the Koran. The Waqf, the Islamic religious trust, under the leadership of Yassir Arafat, is responsible for attempting to erase the Jewish historical basis of the
Temple Mount and illegally have been throwing away by the truckload, archaeological remains of the First Temple. Visit
and witness the Waqf's destruction on the Temple Mount --destruction aimed to make sure that no one will find
any proof for such a claim.

This past week Israel celebrated G-d's great victory during the Six-Day War. Jews and members of the Temple Mount Faithful went to Orient House and protested against the illegal use of Orient House by the PLO. As they were peacefully assembled, the Jews were physically attacked by Palestinian thugs who belittled and physically attacked the
protestors. The Palestinians were spurred on by Arab photographers who planned on using this as a photo op. Faisal Husseini, PLO Minister of Jerusalem Affairs, was at Orient House when the attack took place .

It always has been about Jerusalem. G-d sent Abraham to Mount Moriah to test him (Genesis 22). Mount Moriah is the Temple Mount. G-d sent an angel to test King David. David declared "This is the house of the L-rd" (1 Chronicles 22.1). The place where he stood was the threshing floor of Ornan (which King David purchased). The threshing floor of Ornan is also the Temple Mount. King Solomon built the Temple on Mount Moriah (2 Chronicles 3.1). G-d declared to Ezekiel "Son of man, this is the place of My throne and the place of the soles of My feet, where I will dwell among the sons of Israel forever" (Ezekiel 43.7).  Zechariah reveals that it is for the sake of Jerusalem that the L-rd comes to fight against the nations (Zechariah 12-14). It is with
Jerusalem that He will test His people. Pray for their strength -- Am Yisrael Chai!
