Ted Turner prophesied?
Yesterday, June 1, 2000, CNN celebrated its 20th anniversary. Last night Larry King
interviewed founder and broadcasting pioneer Ted Turner, who shared some interesting
insights about his original vision and early days of this amazingly successful enterprise.
One thing jumped out. King revealed that when CNN first started and in the face of critics
and skeptics about his unique vision for a worldwide, 24-hour news network, Turner made
the bold statement, "CNN WILL BE AROUND UNTIL THE END OF THE WORLD."
Of course, humanly speaking, that was just Turner's typical cockiness and confidence. But
could it also have been prophetic? Could God have spoken to us through Ted Turner, the man
who denigrates Christians and who announced that the Ten Commandments are obsolete?
At first such an idea seemed preposterous. But then I remembered the experience of Balaam
in the book of Numbers: "And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass..." (Numbers
22:28, KJV).
All things are possible with God -- even speaking through Ted Turner!
Of course, Turner's mouth is perpetually open, but maybe on just this one occasion, like
Balaam's ass, God's words came out instead of his own!
