Bill Koenig at the White House!

Dear friends

Last night I spoke with friend Bill Koenig of Texas, publisher of the Koenig's International News Web site, probably the best and most comprehensive news site from a Christian and prophetic perspective.

To my surprise, the Lord has suddenly moved Bill to Washington, D.C., given him unusual favor and a few miraculous open doors, and has placed him in the White House! Bill is now part of the White House press corps and will be reporting from both there and the State Department.

Bill Koenig is a very bright, creative and energetic young man who is sold out to Jesus. I believe he will provide us with some unique insights and perspectives as to what is going on, from a Christian perspective. I strongly recommend His Web site at http//www.watch.org, and also his e-mail report, "NewsWatch," with instructions below on how to subscribe. His latest NewsWatch is below.

Please pray for Bill in this new ministry, that God will use him to touch lives among the Washington press corps and his other contacts.

God bless you,

Jim

NewsWatch - By Bill Koenig

MY WEEK AT THE WHITE HOUSE

This past week was an excellent opportunity for me to become familiar with the news operation at the White House where I will be spending much time in the coming weeks.

I was able to spend four days at the White House, where I attended three press conferences given by Ari Fleischer, the White House Press Secretary, in the White House Press Room. It was also my privilege to be in the White House Rose Garden for the signing of the new tax reduction bill and on the South Lawn of the White House as President Bush left by helicopter for Camp David on Friday afternoon.

My first impression of President Bush's team is excellent. To realize that these people have only been at the White House three
weeks and are as professional as they have demonstrated, with such short preparation, is exemplary and a credit to the new administration.

As an example, please refer to the Reuters article, "Bush Aides Quickly Correct Mistakes," for a discussion of the proficiency of the Bush team in promptly admitting to and correcting errors.

In a Washington Times article last week, the Bush press people are described as "professional, polite and very civil." The article stated that President Bush starts his meetings on time and that the White House also likes to keep the news day from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

An interesting sidelight is that many of the White House news people are now arriving home for dinner with their families, an occurrence which didn't always happen under the previous administration.  I also overheard one of the ABC correspondents mention how approachable the new president was and that he is "transparent and not complex" in a positive way. Additionally, the one hundred or so staff members who came to watch President Bush leave on Friday afternoon impressed me. They were well-groomed, polite and professional, which is yet another reflection of the man for whom they work.

I left the White House Friday reflecting on how special this week had been. It was an excellent opportunity to experience first hand the distinct improvements now in place at the White House.

THE PRESIDENT'S SOURCE OF FAITH

(The article below by James Harder goes into more detail about the President's faith. He is a unique man, and we need to continue our prayers for him, his family, and our nation.

President Bush is a man who has been obviously touched by the Almighty and who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He understands the importance of his calling, and he also knows that millions of people have been praying for him and for his family.

Yes, the Lord is still in charge, and this recent election is a prime example of the Lord's love for us. The irony is that it came down to one vote that potentially kept us, in my opinion, from a harsh "judgment." However, the Lord heard the many prayers of His people and responded by giving us one more chance.

No doubt, we all still have a lot of work and prayer ahead of us, and we will have many challenges, but we have a better chance now.   Let's pray that we might make the most of the journey ahead under the guidance of this administration.  Let's also continue to be patient with our new President. We all know how challenging our own days can be, so perhaps we can visualize that in the role as the most influential person in the world, while dealing with the many different types of people and major challenges that come his way each day.

Praise God for his faith and for the power of prayer. Please click here for the article. http//www.insightmag.com/archive/200102274.shtml"

PRAY FOR THE WHITE HOUSE MEDIA

Please click on the following link for a list of the 65 members of the national and international media headquartered at the White

House. You will recognize some of their names. http//www.watch.org/showart.php3idx=9199&rtn=/index.html&showsubj=1&mcat=24

Please lift up these people in daily or weekly prayer, however you feel led. They are the people who help influence the hundreds of millions of people daily through TV, radio, magazines, the newspaper, and the Internet.   I sincerely believe that I will see the impact of your prayers in the weeks ahead. When that happens, I will share that news with you. Already, I have had good opportunities to plant small seeds with three members of the media this past week. I will be very open to and sensitive to the opportunities the Lord puts in front of me.

WHITE HOUSE NEWSWATCH WHAT'S AHEAD

I will begin this week sending out a commentary two to four times a week. My plan is to keep them short and to the point. There is much happening right now, and this will be the best way to keep my readers more informed.

The focus of my time each week will be divided between the White House and the State Department. I believe these are the two critical areas in which to be during the days ahead. I am also in contact with some of our excellent sources in Israel and will add more from them shortly. These will remain our key areas of emphasis for this news ministry.

This is a very unique time. We now have a committed Christian as President of the United States and a Zionist Prime Minister, standing firm at the head of Israel. It will be very interesting to see how the Lord uses these two men and nations.

ISRAEL AND THE MIDDLE EAST

Let's put the Middle East peace situation into perspective The former Syrian President Haffez Assad had virtually obtained a commitment for all he wanted from Israel down to a few meters of land along the eastern border of the Sea of Galilee. They consequently received nothing.

Palestinian Leader Yasser Arafat had concessions to obtain from 93-95% of what he wanted, and he refused to budge. He now has very little to show for his efforts.  Both groups now have to deal with the new Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. He stated last week that he will not allow Jerusalem to be split and that sovereignty over the Temple Mount will not be compromised.

Additionally the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) under former Prime Minister Ehud Barak had its hands tied, a command procedure which will not likely happen with the Sharon government.

Iran continues to arm the Hizbullah in Southern Lebanon, and Iraq is talking about putting together a seven-million-person volunteer army to come against Israel.  And the new United States Secretary of State, Colin Powell, is planning an extensive visit to the region in two weeks and stated today that President Bush would become involved in the talks after the Sharon Government was in place. Stay tuned!
