War clouds over the Middle East, and the world

Some recent news reports from the Middle East give evidence of a soon war.  If it happens, will it trigger the rise of the antichrist, or the war of Ezekiel 38-39?

Military historian Dr. Aryeh Yitzchaki was asked today how he reads the reported Egyptian decision to call up its reserves for "exercises." His response

"All the classic warning signs are there, and it is clear that we are poised for war, possibly within two months. I don't want to scare anyone, but as opposed to IDF Military Intelligence, my opinion for the last two years has been that war will erupt in the spring of 2001, and it will involve not only the Palestinian Authority and Hizbullah, but also Egypt, Syria, and Iraq. The Egyptian Army does not need reserves - it's an army built on its standing force, and therefore Israel's denials of the Egyptian call-up are not relevant. The Egyptian Army is poised for war; it has created new regiments, has been training intensively, and has acquired the most up-to-date American equipment... I am happy that despite the IDF's denials of my prognosis, Intelligence Chief Head Maj.-Gen. Amos Malka is beginning to agree with me." Yitzchaki said that despite reports that Iraq and Iran will have nuclear weapons only three and five years from now, respectively, "I have reliable information that Iraq already has one nuclear bomb - and this explains his recent 'chutzpah' vis-a-vis the Americans - and that Iran will have one ready by the end of this year."

Ominous insights reported by Jack Van Impe Ministries and the Debka file:

MOSCOW AIRLIFTING DEFENSE SYSTEMS TO BAGHDAD March 5, 2001
DEBKAfile reports "Russia and Iraqi are working intensely in the last few days to accelerate substantial deliveries to Baghdad of SA-6 anti-air missiles and advanced radar, according to DEBKAfile’s military sources. So as not to draw Washington’s ire, the Russians are redirecting supplies via military bases in Belarus and on to civilian airliners flying out of Minsk to Baghdad. The Belarus president, Alexander Lushenko, a tough USSR-style dictator, is radically anti-American and close to Russian president Vladimir Putin. Under their military pact, Russia maintains part of its nuclear weapons stocks in Belarus. To speed up supplies, Saddam Hussein in the last fortnight posted a large military delegation led by Brigadier Saadi Subhi at the Iraqi embassy in Moscow and another, headed by Col. Aedil Hadida, a military engineer specializing in air defenses, in Minsk.

Our military sources add that a large group of Russian intelligence officers dressed as civilians has arrived in Baghdad to train Iraqi intelligence officers. They are agents of the SVR, successor to the KGB’s counterintelligence arm, the First Chief Directorate. These largely concealed movements are symptoms of rising US-Iraqi tensions since the American air raid over Baghdad on Feb. 16…"

From The Intelligence Digest, in an article headlined,  "War in the Middle East,"  it says:

"...there appears to be little optimism that war can now be averted in the Middle East."

"...there is evidence that the Palestinian Authority itself may be anticipating war.  According to a recent statement of the Palestinian Ministry of Information: 'Sharon is not a man of peace, he never was and never will be.  Hence the Palestinian people, leadership, the neighbouring Arab countries and the world must brace themselves for the catastrophic war Sharon is starting now."'

"In Israel there is certainly evidence that preparations for possible attack are currently being made.  Local intelligence reports indicate that the deployment of US Patriot missiles in the Negev last week...The Israeli Defense Force has also been holding exercises..."

"The situation in the Middle East is clearly perilous."
