Late, great saint spoke of future

Dear friends

The late Gordon Lindsay (1906-1973) was a great Christian leader and scholar. His ministry and school, Christ for the Nations, in Dallas, Texas, has produced many laborers for the mission field and has been a major force in helping to fulfill the Great Commission, and still is.

Linsay's book, "God's Plan for the Ages, as Revealed in Bible Chronology" was first written in 1940, since updated, and is a classic. It is an excellent resource of Bible chronology from Adam to the present, and in it Lindsay describes and illustrates many biblical cycles. Here is an interesting excerpt from Appendix III, written sometime later by this great saint before he went to be with the Lord on April 1, 1973 -- 29 years ago.

From pages 244-245:

"The cycles of Bible Chronology pointed to 1946-53 A.D. as a period of great significance. Such emphasis is based on the terminal date, and so many cycles converge at this point that in some way it must mark the end of the age. Actually, it marks the beginning of the transition period between the end of the Gentile Age and the beginning of the Millennium....

"As we have said in our introduction when the first edition of this book was published in 1940, it seemed almost certain that this period 1946-1953 marked in some way the ending of the Gentile Age and the independence of Israel as a nation. Yet at the time nothing seemed further from fulfillment....

"The early years of the 1950s were the years of the great migration to Israel, especially from the Iron Curtain countries.... So this period could be said to be Israel's great homecoming....

"As we have seen, the following years 1954-1955 marked the beginning of Israel's 70th Jubilee. Seventy is the number of fulfillment, and the 49 years that follow this Jubilee (1954-2003) no doubt will prove to be the most important period in world history. Notice that both the 40-year cycles and the 65-year cycles reach a culmination at this point. The judgment cycles and the "seven times" cycles all point to this time. Moreover, many other time cycles reach fulfillment at this time."
