June-August 2000
Brampton Guides re-formed on June 5th 2000.
And although a little late, we have decided to take part in Cambswest 2000 challenge.
Along with registration papers, parents were also given one-day activity forms for the county stomp. So this terms subject was Campfires:

The girls each made a camp blanket sewing their Brownie sashes to it, they made octopus camp buddies by winding wool round and round and round a medium sized hard back book, they then cut the wool on one side, folded it in half and made a body by tying wool around a ball (ish) shape at the fold, next they divided the rest of the wool to make eight legs and platted them then secured the ends with wool, they finished them off by gluing oogily eyes on and securing a largish safety pin underneath so it could be fastened on to their shoulders. They also learnt a couple of everyday Guiding songs. Off we went to the stomp all decked out with camp blankets and camp Buddies, they learnt loads more songs and all had a great time.

We completed the half term and campfire theme by having an indoor campfire enrolment, 17 girls were enrolled on July 17th 2000 in front of DC, Div Com, Cllr Doug Mcwillan, (Deputy mayor of Huntingdon) and all the girls parents, the girls planned the whole night, they decided what songs were to be sung (they chose songs that would have parents jumping up and down and joining in), all the girls also earned their hostess badge, each invited another girls parents, the food had to be seen to be believed, each patrol decided they would only use food that showed which patrol had made it. There was jam tarts (Red Rose Patrol) there was blueberry cakes (Forget-me-Not Patrol) there was cheese spread sandwiches (White Rose Patrol) and I can’t remember everything but I’m sure you get the idea, lots of food colouring was used. All their idea.
