My New York City Tribute |
The Day America Hit Its Knees The day started as any other, little did anyone know, that today America would hit its knees. In the early morning, a call came to 911, a plane had crashed into Tower One. A few minutes later, another had crashed into Tower Two. In the course of an hour, NYC was changed, as two national symbols, came down in flames. We watched in silent wonder, all too stunned to speak, as a city that had stood tall, was knocked off its feet. America came together, like no one had seen, since World War II when Pearl Harbor was seized. Our President was not afraid, and sent the message to us all, United We Will Stand, Divided We Fall. We will never forget, those who gave their lives, so that others could survive. America, you are strong and will rebound, but don’t let the fire die that was kindled in our hearts, when a nation heard a city’s cry. No one will forget, that warm September day, when America stood to say, we will pray God Bless the USA. |
The following poem was written during my sophomore year of high school. I post it here due to the topic of this page |
America I Love You Red white and blue, the colors of the flag, that stands straight and true, every time I salute it, I say, America I love you. Like the solider standing tall, who is willing to give his all, to protect the freedoms that God gave us all, says America I love you and answers the call. America, America nation of God, we’ve turned away from the Holy One, but He’s still there calling tenderly, America I love you, come back to Me. America turn around, even though we’ve fallen to the ground, we can rise again and be what we once were, “One Nation under God.” |
I had the pleasure of visiting NYC 16 months to the day prior the WTC attacks. The background on this page is a snapshot I took of the skyline from Central Park |
I wrote the poem below a few days after the NYC attacks. If you would like a copy please email me. |
