Synopsis |
I wrote the poems and stories for this collection from 1992-2002. They are memories of my childhood and early young adulthood capsulated in one to two pages, from Christmas celebration to hockey games, to a special poem for Mother’s Day.
I have divided the book into four parts. Part One is entitled Mario’s Ice Castle; it contains poems about and dedicated to my sports hero who is now in the NHL Hall of Fame, Pittsburgh Penguins superstar and now owner, Mario Lemieux. Part Two is entitled God’s Greatest Gifts. In this section I wrote poems that are based on my fondest childhood memories and the things that are most important to me, my relationship to God, my family and my friends. Part Three is titled America, A Golden Dream. In this section I have written tributes to our great nation, its leaders and its heroes. I made “The Day America Hit It’s Knees” the title piece for the book because it is the events of September 11, 2001 that changed the course of this nation, perhaps the world, forever. Part Four, entilted Dreams of a Young Heart consists of short stories. Each has a theme of its own. My hope is that people enjoy reading this collection as much as I enjoyed writing it and giving you a glimpse into the world of a girl who begun to write at the age of 15 with a head full of dreams and a lively imagination as innocent as a young child. I hope that as you read this collection you are not only entertained but also you realize a fresh sense of the innocence of childhood. |
