America’s Camelot A Poem in Memory of JFK and JFK Jr. A shy quiet young man from New England, became America’s model of style, he won the nation with his smile. He was the youngest leader we’d ever had, and wore the crown with dignity, and for three brief years, America shed no tears, because we were in the spot, history would call our Camelot. But that all changed in ’63, with one shot when John was three. Now the light that had burned bright, had been snuffed out, leaving us in the dark of night. We watched with tears, as John said goodbye, and saluted his father, as he passed by and a spot in our hearts was forever claimed, when Jackie lit the eternal flame. We thought we would see a Kennedy in the White House again, but it was not to be, as a plane crash took the life, of the heir to Camelot. This family has had its share of pain, but it also has the eternal flame, that will burn bright in the hearts, of those who remember Camelot. |
America’s Rose A Poem in Memory of Jackie Kennedy Onassis She was a shy and quiet girl, people called her the girl next door, this girl who didn’t say a lot, became the Queen of Camelot. A shot rang out, a nation grieved, one woman cried, a whole country’s tears. She was the epitome, of style and grace, she was an entire nation’s face. She carried herself with dignity and poise, like the queen she was, though not royal born and bred, she wore a crown upon her head. When her time on earth came to a close, we all mourned the fading, of America’s rose. |
