Brandon's first big movie break came with Kung Fu: The Movie. This was based on the early Kung Fu t.v series which his father had developed as a starring vehicle and was then denied the part.

  The main story line of the film is revolved around drug trafficking in the old west by using coffins as a form of transport. Caine comes to the rescue, played by David Carradine, in order to sort out the problem and bring about justice. There is the additional problem of an evil Chinese manchu who seeks revenge for his sons death, aparrently caused by Caine. A Chinese spell has been cast on Caine's son to the effect that Caine's eventual executioner will turn out infact to be his own son, played of course, by Brandon. The movie gives four good scenes over to our Brandon; the first is at the very beginning where he steps off the stage coach with the evil manchu, played by Mako. The next is when Brandon is seen attacking the warehouse manager in an attempt to draw Kwai Chang Caine into a death match. In the next scene, we see him attempting to kill Caine with a broadsword but falling; and the final scene is where a fully choreographed kung fu fight sequence is staged between Caine and his son, part of which included a fight sequence with a three sectioned staff, exellent first movie Brandon...
