Camp Counselor

HL100 Challenge #7

Firmly in Clan Denial, here...

Something wasn’t right. And it wasn’t the double sunset.

A boy, looking out over the lake.

"What’s wrong?" Not one of his boys, but it was his turn. Patrol, they called it; it reminded him of his brief stint as a cop.

"My daddy’s dead."

"How long ago?"

"Last year."

"You remember him. I never met my dad."

The boy turned. Dark, sad eyes. "I’m sorry."

"It’s okay. It was a long time ago. I’m Richie. What’s your name?"

"Wesley. Wesley Crusher."

There’s something about this boy, not like me, but something. Something very special.

They walked back to camp.

100 words – point to Richie.

Considering I was the one who suggested a week of crossovers, it took me forever to come up with a good one. This came to me in the middle of the night, if you can believe it. I don’t remember how old Wesley was supposed to be when Jack Crusher died; if he was too young to remember, let’s just call this a little AU.
